I have just created the majority of my website and I have a problem.

I want to add some info content. I have videos and pictures, so i am looking for text mostly, but extras(widget ideas, info plugins like news etc) for fillers are welcome. I have 3 pages that need content and I have writers block. I need ideas and topics to put on my website

Here are my page titles:
Home
About Us

If you can refer me to other websites (content wise), forum post or just your topic suggestions for each page. Or suggestions for new pages etc.

This is for my 1st offline marketing website

Thanks for all responses

Perhaps you shouldn't be doing offline marketing if you don't know what you do enough to put it on your own website?

Not trying to be mean... but what on earth makes you think you can start a business, if you can't tell people what you do, what you're about, and what you offer?

ABOUT US page? How do you expect us to know what you're about?

Home, about us, and services oh my! Surely you know something about your new business that you can write something on there. Maybe you should go to one of the article places like EzineArticals, they would probably have some stuff you could use.

Website content is usually so boring and bad that people click away somewhere else.

If you want to stand out, don't go on and on about how great you are at the technical things you do. Those would be features and benefits ("We truly listen to our clients and provide the best web design experience possible"--BARF!)

Everyone is saying garbage like that.

Why don't you write about the typical problems you solve for your clients?

Then when new people arrive and read these things, they'll realize that you understand their business. You'll have instant credibility. Compared to other web designers who are busy saying pointless things like "We program in Wordpress and Joomla..." and "Our experience is what matters", which don't matter at all to prospects, you'll come across like a genius.

Remember, your prospects don't care about technical things. They don't understand, they're frightened by, they're skeptical of and turned off by jargon. So stay away from it.

Lol.. Thats funny because I was the same last week. Stuck on what to put on my website. Then I said forget it. I dont have time to worry about my website. So what did I do? I installed a Coming soon plug-in that counts down to a date in the future when I might put it up. I realized like every one says you DONT NEED a website. What matters is the website i build for my clients and the first two i gave away to non profits that love them. (and im no web designer).

However when I do put my website up Im going to practice what I will be teaching my clients about having a "lead generation"/ "direct response" website. As a marketing consultant people dont care about you. They want to know what you can do for THEM.

Ask yourself this question do you read the about us on any website you go to?

to have the best website you just need to figure out your potential clients possible problems and list them out. Give away a free report, capture their email, etc.

Hope that helps. Im a newbie in the game, but i offered this because no one else did and because i was in the same dilemma. Plus it reaffirms in my mind how much i already know. lol

Writing good content isn't easy if you're not a "writer", regardless of how well your know your business, I get where you're coming from Mike. Have you checked out textbroker.com? they staff writers with all kinds of specialties and charge based on how long the content is and how quickly you need it.

Have you tried Elance or Fiverr? This has worked for me in the past, and others have had some success with it, too.

I think you should see it as a very useful exercise. Sit down and brain storm a little bit, potentially do it with a friend, spouse or whatever. Just put yourself in the mind of a business owner that wants to have the need solve that you solve with your business. Then come up with ideas why you are better than the competition. I think you need to be able to voice this, whether or not you stick it into a about us page is irrelevant, but you need to know it by heart

It sounds like you're at one of the most critical stages of your business - figuring out your unique selling proposition. Here's what I suggest.

    1. Define your market more specifically. Who are they? Demographics, types of businesses, experience, personalities, values, etc. Write out as detailed a description as you can. If you know someone well who's in your target market, then pick their brains a bit about what problems they have and what they need.

    2. What keeps them up at night? What wakes them up at 2 am thinking, "how can I solve this problem?" The answer isn't "I need to go get someone to help me with SEO".

    3. What services do you offer that can help them solve that problem?

    4. What makes your services different than your competitors?

    5. Why should they buy from you vs. your competitors?

Figure all that out as best you can. You'll end up revising it as you know more and are in business longer.

Then write it down as if you were speaking directly to the person you described in step 1. You can speak it with a voice-to-text app if it's easier.

Now you can pick and choose what you've written to put onto your pages.

But remember - this isn't about the services you provide, it's about the problems you are solving.

One last note. You should have a 30 second "elevator speech" rehearsed which you can use to tell someone what you're all about and grab their attention.

I also think the weight of the articles is the most important thing.besides these the content is also important.
