Profit Share with small businesses

Hi folks,

Real quick one - I have a web designer contact who has alot of small businesses on board, but all of them dont have enough spare cash for our full SEO service.

Do you know of any good WSO's which target these kinda clients for profit share, and reduced up front fees?

I am happy to buy through an affiliate link!

D

I would suggest that you go find the one that you like and approach them. Ask them if they would be interested and that way you are more likely to get your customers what you think is good for them?

Sounds like they could be good potential performance lead generation prospects. There have been a number of threads in this forum recently discussing different ways to sell it.

Might be as good as a wso if you read through the threads.

It'd depend on how much they are willing to shell.

I am not sure I'd want to profit share on a business that has no cash for SEO. It can get quite complex -deciding what real profit is (if they reinvest the gross into capital expenses, is that profit and do you get paid then)?

It can be done for sure but you need good contracts for each client and you really need access to their books. On top of that, you need to trust them. I just wouldn't do it for small clients.

      Thanks Ty,

I guess what I was trying to say was that perhaps a payment per lead? I had a quick read of your thread - interesting...

Say I did build out a site for a client (or optimised the existing one) - based on my experience for ranking 'naturally', its going to take 4-5 months, and about $100 per month for various link building packages etc... I would imagine that we would get the client to pay that?

And how would you track leads? I guess questions that (again!) a good WSO may answer!

I think our wires crossed as I provided some more info just as your post came in. I track calls with CallFire (recorded) and via email lead capture - depends on the niche.

As for a WSO - I have a coaching course coming up (in my sig) but it is expensive. If you want something less expensive, look up MRomeo09's lead gen WSO - very good stuff.

Are you talking about contingency marketing? Where you only make money if they do. I think I'm a little unsure of the question that you are asking.

If it's contingency marketing, I'm your man. Feel free to PM me.

I would find out what the average client is worth to the business. Then create a landing page/sales funnel for your client and use your SEO skills to get page views, leads and new clients. Then have you client pay you a percentage of each sale.
Another angle would to do the advances SEO for 60 days and then when the client see a large increase in business because of you efforts, then they can afford to pay you more.

Thanks Sean - I am not sure what contingency marketing is TBH! But over here in the UK there are PLENTY of small business who can perhaps afford £100 per month, but not the £400+ per month to make it profitable my end.

I think there is a niche here for 'profit share', or pay per lead etc... I guess I was just looking for a good course - I am 100% sure one has been done. Although most WSOs (including mine) are based more on attracting clients.

Thanks mate - yes I had all of these ideas as well - I was just hoping there was someone who had packaged this all up for me - nice and simple - in a WSO!

Lead generation is a totally different thing...it's what I do. If you want to do lead gen then there might be a great opportunity here for you but you need to own the sites, not the clients. You need to stay in control. If you can get them leads quickly via SEO then it should work. If not, if you can negotiate enough juice to cover ppc and still make a profit then that can work too.

The worst thing you can do is to take them on and not provide any leads for 4 months - they will think you're a flake.

I won't do a deal unless I get their credit card on file and can process weekly. I send them a report with the leads on Monday for the previous week and I process on Wednesday. If these guys have no cash then don't do the deal if it's a long sales cycle. Don't work with broke realtors for instance because they won't be able to pay you for 60 days. Guys like plumbers get paid right away and so make sense in this scenario as they can pay from the proceeds of the leads.

If you need any more help with lead gen advice, let me know.

I know some people have a profit share model going but I'd rather run my business instead of having to trust or stick my nose in my clients business to ensure I'm getting paid what I'm supposed to. That's like being a partner in the business.
