Hi guys,

I am getting ready to start my offline venture but require a local phone number (for business purposes only) - and therefore keeping my personal number separate.

I have tried Ring Central but they cannot provide a "local" area code for my part of the country (01527). They can provide a freephone number, but if I am dealing with local businesses I am presuming that a local number would make local businesses more likely to trust me. Is that true?

If anybody has an advice on this id really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,
Rob

Rob, I use Vonage. They are voice over IP and you just connect it to your broadband using a little modem type thing and a normal phone. They give you a local code mine is 02392 and it works exactly like a normal land line.

The best part is that if you move location - when you finally end up working from your beach villa in Hawaii - you just plug your modem in there and everything remains the same - you are still at the end of your local number!

The call clarity is very good and its pretty reliable - I recommend!

      Hi Rob,

With Vonage, is it possible to do call forwarding to a mobile for instance?
