Are You Guys Serious?

"You Guys" are those that ask questions here.

Your actions lead me to believe you aren't sincere in your questioning
and asking for help.

Why?

Because you don't respond or click the thanks button.

Yet, you are seen lurking here.

Well speak up if I've got it wrong.

Best,
Ewen

There maybe times that questions appear to be not serious, i suspect maybe because mostly are newbies and are new to this kind of business. it maybe your way of interpretation that they just joking but in reality they mean it and they really want to learn. Try to understand them/us.

I know when I've asked questions on this forum,
it wasn't some vague thing, it was a pressing need...

so I started conversations with responders to get clearer on
the matter that I wanted fixed.

And I thanked them for their input.

Once again, it just seems weird that their actions,
or lack of, don't match their words.

      Thanks for the input.

      Best,
      Ewen

My favorite newbie question is the ever popular...

"How can I make money with offline businesses?"

I'm not here to poke fun at people like those posters.

I think there will be a tendency not to bother helping the same posters in the future
because there isn't any curtesy shown through at least recognizing the input of others.

          Best,
          Ewen

P.S. Thanks Mike for adding to the discussion.

I understand you not wanting to poke fun at them, but at some point they need to utilize the search button. This is the offline forum so clearly you can find at least ONE way to make money with offline businesses.

When you see the same *what to charge, how to get clients, I have a client..now what??* type of questions over and over...those are the ones I don't take seriously. You can do a quick search about any method and I can almost guarantee you will find what someone charges.

If you don't know what to do when you get a client, well then you really had no business going out and looking for one in the first place. But I guess no question is a stupid question when you really are trying to learn.

I think more often people just want to receive advice that makes them comfortable instead of advice that will work.

Yeah the old confirmation on what they are already thinking.

Not open to an alternative view point from which could
      cause a breakthrough.

It still seems insinsere in asking the question though.

      Thanks for your input.

      So very true.

If only people would step out of their comfort zones of thinking success rates would skyrocket.

    Does that count?

So true. I gotta agree with Ewen. Some questions the OP never returns to. At least just for us to know they got their question answered. Or even if they have follow up questions added to the original. It'd be nice to know if the answer helped or not. If not then we can add to it :-)

      I'm like minded too.

In the end we do really want to help, but with no feed back,
in any form, then we think they aren't serious, which leads us to bypass their
      next questions.

      Thanks for your comment.

Sometimes people forget to subscribe to the thread they asked a question in so it makes it hard to find. I rarely ever subscribe to threads. I made one the other day and didn't subscribe to it.

I got some input and responded, but I'm sure someone else came back and replied but the thread is lost in the crowd now. That could be the case with *these guys.*

As far as thanks go, maybe they didn't hit the button because they weren't so thankful for the comment? I usually try to *thank* people whenever they respond to me whether I like the answer or not, sometimes I forget. What I don't like is when people ask for a thanks, if your comment was good enough the thanks will follow.

The main problem is many people are just not appreciative. They actually expect answers but if their momma taught them manners they forgot them.

Like the simple act of opening a door for someone. Your momma taught you to say thank you but a good 75% barely acknowledge the gesture.

I don't know if women expect the door to be opened or if they feel they are being manipulated or if women's lib got ahold of them but it's usually older women who do say thanks.

I have to admit that I am a likely offender. I sent you a PM with a question in regards to another post you made. You were kine enough to respond...and I didn't respond.

Thank you for taking the time to answer me. I apologize for not responding, just that my time has been a bit limited the last few days and all I've had time for is the occasional fast read.

We won't burn you to the stake! haha.

      Appreciate the apology.

We do want to help, more so to those who appreciate the time
      and effort gone into it.

Bumping this to accept responsibility for being one of those people.

Took me 30mins just to find this thread but I see what Ewen is saying 100%.
I just learned how to use the "search by thread" function and did a search on my own name, and thats what really opened my eyes to the reality of this thread.

What I SHOULD be doing, is going back through all my old threads, printing out everything that was typed, and putting it in my little green marketing binder.

I never realized I have about a books worth of gold between all the threads I made. To add to that I did a search on ewens name and found a lot of the answers I'm actually looking for, are just about every single thread he's ever made on this forum.

So THANK YOU Ewen. You got both my thanks & respect. Less talking, more action. Won't post any more questions till I have some type of result to show the forum!

For questions I feel I can answer or have some value to add, I will. Once I have answered the same question more than once, I usually just hyperlink to the question that has been answered.

Jason is pretty good I hyperlinking to numerous post for the answers.

Sometimes I don't even waste my energy on that anymore, it is to keep my own sanity.

    My favorite:

"How much do I charge for .."

Which is a valid question, but answered about 979 times since I have been on the forum.

I don't read any thread that begins with "How I made $...." or "How to make $... in under ..." because I found I was leaving too many sarcastic remarks in them. There are a lot of those that I don't return to any longer.

Generally I don't answer a question when I don't think I can help or when smarter people than I have already answered.

I just want to clarify that I'm now seeing the "Thanks" button. It was apparently not active until I hit a certain number of posts, perhaps? Either way, it's a welcome addition. I have a bunch of folks to thank! :-)
