How much would you charge for this?

I have a prospect who wants 30 craigslist ads posted per week across different cities. A quick look on freelancer shows about $1 per post.

What would you mark this up too?

Thanks for your feedback.

30 ads per week in total or 30 ads per city per week?
Is it to be a short or long term job?
    How long are the posts?
Is it a simple copy/paste job?

If it's just 30 ads total I would probably do $5 per ad. Don't try making a killing on him because he could walk away and you might lose a chance to make some seriously easy cash.

I agree, this has the potential to turn into a large contract. I am looking to be reasonable with the rate.

I lot of people on Freelancer that are good charge $2.00 per post so I would do that. You could also consider posting them yourself. For help in that area check my signature.

    $5 per sounds about right.

Very competitive marketplace. But each ad has to be a little different or CL will ghost them.

Shouldn't take too long to keep these updated but at first you will have to issue them slowly. One every few days. Or CL will punish you by ghosting them. So for 30 ads, make sure you and your client are aware it will take awhile for them to all get up there.

Good tip. With my outsourcer I will have payment conditions around ghosting

Good luck on the ads staying up, craigslist just changed its policy, TWICE in the last 2 weeks and made major system updates in catching TOS breakers.

The guys charging $10 per ad are usually the better ones that know how to avoid being ghosted.

ALSO.. if you have a number or URL in the post, you're going to need to change it. URL shorteners don't work on craigslist either, so that is something to think about. If a URL appears too many times, anything with the URL will be ghosted.

Thanks for the heads up. I will check out the updated TOS.

Maybe getting a variety of different phone numbers from call8 will help. Also, this guy has like 100 domains around his niche so the url shouldn't be an issue.

This statement is just wrong. I always use links and that does not get you ghosted because you use a link.

And your statement is just naive. It has been PROVEN that craigslist will add links to their ghosting system.. just because I'm not trying to promote an outdated product in my signature, doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about.

If you post too much, and you get flagged enough, the link will flag your posts in the ghosting filter which happens before the cron job sets to post your ads. That is how craigslist works, it is hard to debate over something that is hard coded into their system... Also, if you have TOO MANY links in your posts you will get ghosted.

Next time before you say my statement is wrong, I suggest you read the full post.

Let me say that in my experience in posting on Craigslist for over 4 years
going through the changes I can tell you posting in jobs section using a link will not get you ghosted.

As far as the product I'm selling it is not an outdated product created by someone else but my own content that is helping people with Craigslist.

Once again, you should READ what I posted instead of twisting it into something completely different. Posting a link does not get people ghosted, I never said that...

I also never said that the product you're selling is someone elses.

Wow, I was trying to be as nice to you as possible, but you're either refusing to READ what I have been saying, or you're just delusional.

Since you're hell bent on posting in every craigslist thread possible, because of your pointless product in your siggy, please make sure you read posts first, and try to understand english.

If a URL appears TOO MANY TIMES in an ad, anything WITH the URL in the ad CAN BE GHOSTED.

        VS.

An ad with a link gets ghosted

        Which one did I say?

Which one did you THINK you have seen IN THIS THREAD!?

STOP with the idiocy. If you believe craigslist does not GHOST ads that have not followed its' TOS, and if you believe craigslist does not filter out CERTAIN URL's that are found in ads that have been mass spammed, you clearly are not qualified to sell a product about craigslist.

That is the problem with some people on this forum, they try to sell their products instead of providing value, they just want to make an appearance in a related thread to capture more sales for their crap.

Anyway, please do not respond until you have the brain capacity to read what I said. If you do not understand the difference between being able to post a link, and a filtered URL, then you are unqualified and your opinion is utterly meaningless.

If you are going to be the middle human, then maybe mark it up 25 or 50 percent, whatever will make it worthwhile for you to go through the effort and still give him a reasonable/fair deal.

    Bryson,

Unfortunately trying to outsource this work is not as easy as it may seem. I provide this same service for some customers and at first I was considering the outsourcing option as well. I have not been able to find anyone that's been able to make these ads go live.

Honestly if you're up for it, I would recommend doing this work yourself. Due to the current changes in CL, you can post three ads a day....you just have to do the trial and error method until you get them to go live. Unfortunately if you are ghosted immediately that counts against your three ads per day.

I currently charge $2 per post, but getting the ads to go live is really a lot of work. I don't know if you will be able to get away with charging $10 per ad, but charging $5 per ad is definitely fair. I am considering restructuring my price plan in the near future.

    Good Luck

I found a couple guys on freelancer that have good reviews and am in the interview process with them. One guy even offered me 5 free post to sample.

I decided to go with a flat $5 per post for the initial deal. If the volume increases and the outsourcing works out and it is not to much of a hassel I may drop the rate back a bit.
