Creating an Offline Consultant Video and Need Your Help!

Hi Peeps,

I am creating a video for offline consultants to use (literally as we speak I have After Effects Open) and I would like your input!

What 3 things do YOU think (other than Yellow Pages) that local biz owners used to use but is no longer working and thus need the services of you lovely people here on WF.

So it reads:

People are already looking for services you provide via the internet.

They no longer use:

Yellow Pages etc etc

Thoughts?

    I dunno, it's a tough one. YP still works for a lot of businesses. I totally understand where you're coming though. I just can't think of anything for the life of me and I'm interested to hear if anyone can think of anything.

    Maybe newspaper ads and/or radio ads? I know some still use it, but you hear a ton of ppl saying print is dead.

    Maybe refrigerator magnets? haha I don't really know to be honest.

    Instead of things that aren't working...

    ...talk about three big marketing problems that companies are experiencing, that you can solve.

    Here's a hint: if you have existing clients, ask them why they chose to go with you rather than someone else. Once you get one of these problems from their mouth, it's gold. It works for everybody else in that industry.

    If you don't have existing clients, find some decision makers in a field and ask them.

    Or not even worry about getting them to stop doing something.

    Just offer them another interesting channel to make money. Maybe they are getting results with old school stuff, that doesn't mean they won't be interested in something new AND stick with the old stuff too if it's working.

    I have plenty of clients, this video isn't for me as I have one already.

    This is for the guys and gals who don't have one yet.

    I can't just go straight into the benefits, they have to first connect with the video and realise - "Oh yeah, they're right!" when they watch the video - THEN you say how you can help and this is where you are going to offer your services.

    I'm working through it and I'm sure there will be edits.

    Any other ideas will be cool.

    I decided to try Sean's suggestions of radio and magnets, I mean newspaper ads

    I would say it'd be a good idea to get some credible statistics if someone can find them, otherwise it's all just speculation.

    You'd want the common stuff business owners try and why it's less effective...

    1. Yellow Pages - Now everyone is searching online
    2. Newspapers - More and more people are getting their news online
    3. Radio - People are trained to skip ads on the radio or now have iPods in their cars
    4. Flyers - More and more junkmail being delivered... and ignored

    That's off the top of my head. Do a search on common marketing methods, find a few lists and explain why they don't work very effectively anymore.
