special number for cold calling?

I'm sorry for the noob question. I'm new to all of this offline marketing.

I would like to start some cold calling, I have a few scripts and have been reading around the forum here learning some do's and don'ts. I want to see what I got. However, I will be using my personal landline and just calling out of the yellowpages. I don't want my number to be "black listed" in any way. Is this something I have to worry about?

Or am I fine to just get my headset on and get to business?

Thanks guys,

It shouldn't be a problem. I've used a Kall8 # and my cellphone. I've actually had a better response when using my cellphone. I'm guessing people don't like to see 1-877 numbers on their caller ID lol I don't think it'll be a big deal using your landline.

I use a skype #, unlimited North American call plan thru skype, and Pamela for skype to record the calls.

Under $50 to set up...Pamela is free for a month and the best business tool ever...then it's about $30 one time to go pro. Now you can listen to your calls, send them to clients if needed...record interviews...lots of uses. Upkeep is about $3 a month. Nuthin'.

There is No Blacklist for telephone numbers however its a good idea to not use your personal home phone number...just in case you reach someone who doesnt like telemarketers, they could potentially use it to harass you.

Another issue could be your Phone company. some will monitor for excessive outbound calls and pressure you to install a business line. If they see 100+ calls a day going out it might raise red flags...

Just get on with business. No one ever got arrested for using their home phone for business (exception to drug dealers and pimps).

Call you local cable company and get a business line installed in your home. That's what I did, cancelled my residential and ordered new business service. Added benefit of getting a new install Triple Play so my cable bill dropped by down to 99 a month.

Don't get all wrapped up on what phone service to use. Phone service types never made making sales harder or easier. It's never about the tool, it's about the craftsman.

You can use a Google Voice number. It's free and easy to setup and I use it when I don't want to give out my cell. It has it's own unique voicemail setup but if someone calls me on it...It rings my cellphone. You can set it to ring to your house or whatever number you like though.
