Local SEO in non English languages?

Hi guys, I have just recently decided to focus all my energy into local SEO marketing. I live in Quebec Canada, I know the market here is big enough to run a sustainable business, but the problem I really fear is to do SEO in FRENCH! I have always done everything in english, I have all the fancy SEO tools and services, but one by one I am realizing that the language is a problem.

First major problem, I like using blog network syndication services for steady clean backlinks, however I am noticing that all the big services only support english articles, anything else will be refused, probably same problem for all quality article networks as well.

So basically what I am asking here is has anyone here ever done SEO (local or not I guess) in french or spanish or some other language, and if yes I want to know what automation tools can you use, and do I need to know anything else before I start trying to apply what I have always done in english, but now for french marketing, should I be aware of anything?

Thanks a lot fellow warriors.

Je n'ai jamais fait SEO dans d'autres langues mais je image qu'il ne peut pas être guère différent de ce qu'il en anglais.

SEO is a field in which we promote our product globally,if we talk about globally promotion then there is only a language that is globally accepted and the language is ENGLISH. So if you want SEO in local zone then you may not get overall promotion it means you are restricting your product from global promotion.

Very good hehe. I know the basics are all still the same, it is the tools I use, specially the networks for syndication (either blog OR article networks) that I ask all of them and they say sorry only support english content.

So what I am starting to wonder is how effective would it be to shoot a FRENCH contextual link INSIDE of an english article? Like "Are you looking for cheap assurance d'automobile?". Has anyone ever tried this, would I get penalized by google for doing that?

      Thanks

Have you guys found anything since? Regarding link building for french websites. Any tips, any tips for tools we can use that "support" marketing in other languages (without looking spammy of course)?

The "Best" solution for this - for me anyways - is to build 2 parallel sites one in English and the other in the language of your choice. your "Home" page becomes a "Qualifying" page. In your case English or French.

    Salut les gars!!!

I have done SEO in other languages, and besides of being easier to rank the principles are the same here are some suggestions:

    a) The blog network dont accept other language but english? create your own blog network with free web 2.0 properties and put any anchor you need in contextual text.

    b) In extreme cases you can use an anchor text in an english article, that is very common when english speaking newspapers are quoting newspapers like "Le monde" or "LE journal de Montréal", "LE Devoir" all those are french words that are inserted in an english article, why wouldn't make sense to make the contrary?

    d) Optimize your articles for the keywords you want to rank and post them in blogs, tumblrs, Scripb etc... you may finish ranking this articles as well.

I hope that helps otherwise feel free to contact me (C'est le fun)

Nice tips. In addition to these, I also suggest you get some links from other French or local sites. When you are trying to rank for a local keyword, its not just the language, the location is also important. So, try to get links from local sites of nearby areas as well as directories that are specifically about your local region.
