What payment method would be best?

I am creating a business website and need a payment method that is easy to use with a reoccurring billing system too. The avg transaction will be $750 and re-billed monthly. What do you suggest would be the best route to go. This entire online payment system is very confusing to figure out which services you actually need. I also see paypal not as an option because of their changing business ethics.

Getting yourself a merchant account is probably the most reliable method (but expensive).

You might be judging that a little too quickly.

For people who don't want to pay substantial fees paypal is usually the most practical option to get started and most people who have used paypal for years have no problems (there are some notable exceptions of course).

    Some other options are here...

Well they ARE rebranding themselves and it is only a matter of time. It definitely isn't the best option for running a business. The 2.9% is still kind of high... even lowering it by 1% has saved me a TON of money by switching to a real merchant.

I would definitely go through a processor that uses authorize.net. There is a small monthly fee but if you run at least $1,000 a month, it's worth it. 1.9% from transactions and a 9.95 monthly gateway fee.

Although paypal is the first choice for all types of businesses, there are many options you can choose from. Plimus, moneybookers, 2checkout are the three top payment processors of my choices for recurring billing system.
