Interested in hearing about the experiences of other Offline Marketers as it pertains to their Pricing Model and Methods.

There seems to be varying opinions and methods when pricing and collecting payments for Projects for clients.

How you require Payment?

-Up-Front Pricing (Client Pays % then remainder on completion of Project)
-Project Completion (Client Pays 100% on delivery of Project)
-Monthly Fees

How you Price?

-Custom Pricing Each Project
-Flat Rate Pricing (Package Pricing)

Ancillary Costs (Hosting, Email Marketing, Domain, etc)

- Line Item (Each Cost Listed)
- Contained in Monthly Package
- Contained in Annual Package

Or do you change your pricing structure for each client -depending on the size, scope and type of client?

Interested in hearing your thoughts and want to keep this to an intelligent discussion. To preface this conversation - I believe there is no right or wrong, just what works for you in your marketplace.

Every project is different and therefore has a unique price each time. I always ask for 50% deposit to start the job and sometimes 25% at certain project milestone with the rest paid on completion.

Also depends on your cost to do the job, and how much profit you want. For example, in my old company (which my brother and I started at ZERO) I had 15 employees , 3 locations, 2 partners, and 80K in monthly residual income..at first we had our floor at 3K for a website and 600/month for basic SEO and thats all we sold....after a couple years, we weren't taking anything less than 18K/year and that was with a contract. Most contracts were a bit larger than that. Payment by credit card preferred and we gave a discount for it. Otherwise, it was invoice and check..today the company (I am no longer involved) has 80+ monthly retainer clients and has collection problems every month...

Now, I work freelance from my home (poolside mostly..lol) with my wife. Our clients range from 300-3500 per month, we have no employees, no overhead, etc...for me personally, 20K per month right now is a nice living, and i can do that with about 15 clients...its more than I ever made with the bigger company, and I am much happier...all depends on your goals and what will make you HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and we now just send invoices thru Quickbooks which clients can pay by card or check. Have not had a collection issue yet (knocking on wood)....
