I use OpenOffice which you can download free offline to creat my flyers and I also use PrintShop 15 which I like to use to create my business cards and discount cards.

    I hope this helps,

Microsoft word... No need to get complicated... put a frame around it, insert an image and your copy...you are good to go. Some things you dont need to buy a template for. Assuming you have word, which understandably isnt cheap.

Lol, one could reasonably buy a used tower with word already in it cheaper than to buy the program honestly... I say that because I had to replace it recently.

If the question is about "design", then

A: Use one image... not a real detailed one that will blur up on the printed page.
B: The most exciting , compelling headline you can think of, always including the biggest "benefit" you can think of. (People buy "benefits" not "features").
C: 4-5 Checks or bullets that outline the hottest benefits you can think of
D: At the bottom of the bullets put "...and much much more".
E: Strong call to action with contact info at the bottom in bold.

You dont want to 'sell" in your flyer you want to quicly create enough interest to get them to call in so you can sell them!

Get them excited enough to call in, but dont provide so much info that they qualify themselves out before hearing your presentation.

Its a two part process. The flyers only purpose is to Hook the holy crud out of them... HOOK HOOK HOOK them...then educate them on the phone or through your site or whatever, and to use Jason's terminology "Qualify them in or out".

You cant sell em if you cant hook em first.

    Hope this helps.

Not really, you just have to do it and watch your averages until you come up with a ballpark predictable result on what percentage comes back then duplicate it. You could have a certain number or special offer that only applies to flyer sales also.

Maybe there are better ideas, but thats what I always go by. If people are calling in about a certain offer, you know it came from the flyer.

Ps. Dont leave them on cars, that doesnt work.

I do a lot of these as an intro service and they are pretty simple. I just use an image, headline, offer and call to action (some rarity as well) with a dotted line around the offer. I have USUALLY tested the content on adwords first. I just do it in either openoffice or coreldraw x something just because I know how to use it fast.

For some customers I also do a few variants with a tracker code on it to test then tell them to print about 100-200 of each and pass them out. They usually have their kids or pay someone pennies to pass them out.

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

You can make simple fliers in WordPad. Then just print them out & start distributing

Use MS word, Coral Draw or photo shop to design it. You can select the size from the Top menu bar of the Flyer, A4,A5, A6 or even A7. It depend how deeply how professional design you want.
Simple one can be made from even word which i think is the best for you to start off with

Design matters. You can just use a word processor and still get results, but good design speaks quality. Naturally, people will trust you more if you apply professional design to your advertising.

If a flyer came through your front door advertising a great offer but was clearly thrown together in a word processor, would you buy from that company? Some still would, but good design has often proven a drastic increase in conversion rates.

I highly recommend Photoshop and InDesign for designing flyers, but if you're no expert then look into hiring a graphic designer. There are lots of designers specializing in flyer design, many of which will charge low prices due to competition.

Depends on what the copy says. I may.

Pretty sells nothing. Copy is what matters first. Design can be used to frame copy - to reinforce it - make it stand out - but it can't make bad copy or a bad offer good.

A good balance between good content and good design. Something that will get the attention of the reader and make them actually read the entire content within the flyer. As for the program, you can go for photoshop or corel, that's what I normally use.
