I would think the answer to that question
would vary greatly based on your offer.

It seems most people give out the response
of 1% to any response question.

I've done mailings and gotten an 80%
    response rate.

I've made phone calls and gotten a 60% close rate.

I will tell you that flyers in genral have a lower response
rate because people think of it like junk mail.

Paper color makes a differance, I have found bright lime green
tested well. But your offer and your target maket makes all
    the differance.

    Hope that helps.

80%...So if you place 10 flyers you get 8 callbacks or website visits? That can't be right..I must be mis-understanding

        I said "mailings" not flyers.

Hope that clears it up for you.

I have to agree with Blase. There are too many variables (how targeted the flyer is to the audience, how effective the copy is, the offer requirements, etc) to come up with an average click through for flyers in general.

I've tested the dotted line as well and various photos and calls to action. I can tell you, what you THINK will get a good response and actually does, may not be the same (actually rarely is). I usually throw a few bucks at adwords to test things first before the expensive printing.

I've tried CPAs to no avail but I know guys that have sat outside stores on black friday or boxing day have had success.

For businesses, it is still my #1 intro service (test, create flyers). I even had a print shop asking me how I was doing that (reviving flyers in our city).

I do like the post cards WAY better though because I personally respond to them but its a hard sell to a local business.

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

your question needs to be a lot more detailed to have anyone give you advise as there are so many variables that need to be looked at..
