I've been looking into selling google places lately and recently came accross the whole "pin" ordeal...

for anyone who has ever dealt with this could you help me out with a few questions?

-Do they send the pin to the actual business location? Could you get it sent to my address by any chance?

-How long does it take to receive the pin?

pelase feel free to include any other information i would need to know about google places and pins

Thanks!
Katie C.

The pin is sent to the address or phone number listed on google places. Basically they want the real business to be the one claiming.

I have had the pin sent via snail mail and it has taken up to
3 weeks and as short as 5 days.

oh wow, how do you usually explain this to clients?

do you charge them on the spot and then just ask them to send the pin your way when they receive it?

I feel like waiting 2-3 weeks for a pin would be enough time for them to change their mind about your service.

Google will call the business number within seconds and goive the
business owner a pin if you want to do that instead.

When I am setting up the places I call the business owner and explain
to them that I am submitting all of the information to Google for them
to help them with the rankings. But google needs to verify they are a real
      business.

Then I ask them if they are going to be at this number?
If so I tell them that they are going to get an automated call from
Google that will give them a pin. Then I tell them to write it down and
call me back with the number.

Also if your customer has an automated system that answers the phone
the call from Google will not work. Then you must use the post card.

Yes I get paid up front.

      Hope that helps.

Don't feel that the client will change their minds. They won't if you just explain the process and tell them to call you as soon as it arrives. It is also a great way to stay in touch and in front of them.

    Good Luck!

What do you do if you are setting up a site to sell leads for a local business before you have an actual client to sell to? Can you do phone verification and get some type of virtual phone number for them to call or how does that work?

I may not understand the question, but...

There are lots of ways to game Google Places.
I don't recommend it and I won't share what they are.

Google Places is for real businesses with real addresses
        and real phone numbers.

I have found after 40 years of being in business that you
are much better off in the long run by playing it straight.

Plus I don't have to remeber the lies I've told.

If you have a business that generates leads for clients
then get a Google Places for your leads business.
I guess I am missing why you need a client to sell to
before that unless you are thinking of putting up a site
and leasing it to a business. If that's the case, put up the site,
drive traffic it to it, get the client, then do GP.

If I missed your question try reframing it for me, I'm old you know.
