Trey Smith has a great app program called The Software System which is all about creating iPhone apps.

          The URL is: thesoftwaresystem.com/

I went through the course and it is amazing. It is very organized. I was never overwhelmed with any of the principles being taught.

I love mobile apps! Take a look at this, almost all people nowadays has a mobile phone. Almost all of them checks their mobile Inbox every now and then but a only a few others checks their emails using their computer regularly. That is why I believe mobile marketing is a very effective strategy.

Very easy to create an app for local small businesses. The best thing to do is to use an app builder.

I've been using GoMobileSolutions but there are some less expensive options as well. For example, AppMakr.

But the best FREE alternative is mobile.conduit.com

Essentially, what these app builders do is they turn your clients' existing online content into an app. It would be sort of like a mobile website but in a nice little bundled app.

The plus side of mobile apps for local small businesses is the PUSH NOTIFICATIONS which allows business owners to send a message blast for promotions, sales, etc.

As far as what to charge clients, charge them whatever they can afford.

What I mean by that is you need to make sure that they understand the VALUE that a mobile app would have for their business. Once they see that there is a real ROI for a mobile app then they would be more willing to pay the price that you demand.

So instead of a selling mentality, you should be in the mindset of educating your potential clients on how this can help them increase their business.

Businesses that have actually looked into getting an app created (custom app from an app developer) are used to seeing numbers in the high five figures ($60k - $80k). If you have the skills to create a 100% custom app, and you found clients willing to pay that price then you could charge prices like that.

If you're using an app builder then you are slightly limited with what you can do. But there are enough features to make it worth pursuing this type of business.

Keep your prices between $1,000 - $10,000 for a mobile app. But rather than charging that all up front, offer a contract for monthly installments. For example, many small business owners are great at what they do but they suck at money management and won't have that kind of cash laying around and even if they do, they may need it for other operating expenses. A lot of business owners won't justify that expense if it's in one lump sum.

So instead of charging $6,000 for a mobile app, setup a 1 year contract for $500/month and make sure that the payment is automated so you don't have to go around collecting every month.

For a price tag of $6,000/year, make sure that you offer a monthly mobile marketing package to your client as well as the app creation. The mobile marketing campaign is what will be the ROI rather than the app itself. The app will be useless to a business owner if customers don't use it! So the mobile marketing campaign will create that ROI and your client won't regret his/her decision to pay you $500/month for a year.

Once you build a few apps and have a few happy clients, get testimonials and case studies you can use to present to future potential clients. That will help you build credibility and makes upsells the easiest thing you've ever done!

At that point, your sitting pretty with some nice residual income off a handful clients.

[Where does this advice come from, you ask?] My own experiences over the last 6 months. I am about to close on an $8,000 deal this week.

    I hope that this helps!

Creating an mobile application is as exciting as using one of the same kind. I have installed mobile app in my smart phone to make all transactions online using my cell phone. Today, I do shopping, make payments online, book e-tickets, pay bills and book restaurants using my mobile phone. I also work as a mobile app developer. So, I know how much fun and exciting is to create such user-friendly cell phone applications for you, me and various other cell phone users.

Building an app is a great idea? But it is a bit costly. Apart from developing, you may also have to spend on marketing.

Just think of the result you will get using a cell phone app. Mobilize your website or create an user-friendly mobile website to promote your business and see the difference. My personal experience says that creating or using a mobile app can make your life easier than what it was before. I use a cart shopping software for my mCommerce site. The app is awesome.
