If you were going to provide a potential client with a "free traffic report"
with all the details to "wow them", and get your foot in the door,
what do you use?

There are a few options, but I would like to hear yours.

Thanks!

Do you mean how to get free traffic?

I guess it depends on what type of company you're dealing with.

Still, I don't know that businesses would be easily wow'd by a free traffic report. Why would a landscaping company, for example, care? Or how about a podiatry center? This seems better suited to marketing to other IM'ers.

That aside - beyond explaining how to get traffic, it is often compelling to show what happens after you get new traffic, and then extrapolating out to potential new clients.

So for a podiatrist (I am making this all up)...

    - Podiatry in Fairfax = 600 searches per month
    - In the number 1 position, you could expect about 40% of clicks, say 240 visits
    - Out of 240 visits, if 10% of people contacted you, that would be 24 leads.
    - If 20% of those 24 leads booked appointments, you'd have 4-5 new patients
    - At an average value of $700 per new patient, that represents about $3000 in new top
line revenue, plus a new patient chart.

Making it personal and allowing the client to visualize new success is what will wow them. I don't think showing them the latest IM tactic to drive traffic will be of concern...

What keywords they are using, vs other keywords to rank
    their google places rank
their google places rating, compared to how many people are seeing it
those really help monetize the alien language of seo for clients

then offer to fix their shortcomings

To answer this simply... I wouldn't.

I wouldn't need to use some gimmick to get my foot in the door... they either have a problem that I can offer a solution to, or they don't. There is no other way for me to think about it... they are either qualified or unqualified. Website traffic doesn't matter to business owners. Having a solution to a problem that either saves them time, saves them money, or makes them money is all that matters. If they don't have a problem with their online marketing, then don't offer a solution to it.
