What to sell a Landscape company

I got the lanscaping design and lighting company into the #1 slot on Google Places. They say it hasn't brought in any customers. I'm trying to find a web or mobile solution that will get them some customers. Any ideas?

so you got your client site to #1 and no lead? what kind of keyword? You should get several leads per week at least..if there is traffic, no lead then your site needs to modify with more call action..track web traffics..

-How many keywords? What kind of keywords (are they targeted/buying/local keywords)? What is the total search volume of the keywords? How long have the keywords been ranking #1? Are they REALLY ranked #1? Are your client's services overpriced? Do they have any negative reviews? Is there a good call-to-action on their website (phone number/contact form, offering free quotes etc.)?

You can't create traffic that doesn't exist. If your client's target market is for Tinytown, Kansas, you're only going to see so many searches per month - no matter what you do.

On the other hand, if you're actually getting traffic and tracking your visitors, you may need to make revisions to their website and listing etc. to improve conversion rates.

-You could try some offline tactics; fliers, postcards, classifieds etc. That, or you could cold-call B2B on their behalf, offering their services to other, local businesses.

In any case, be sure to track whatever visitors you get...that way, you have proof of your work (and) you can present them with alternative solutions for increasing conversions etc.

You should have done more homework with landscaping.

My honest opinion is that NOONE goes onto google to find a landscaper. I did landscaping myself for about 2 years working mostly in wealthy areas and there are always so many landscapers who advertise DIRECTLY in those neighborhoods.

I have known A LOT of landscapers, and they all advertised the same way. It was knocking on doors while their crew was mowing. I also rarely ever see flyers for landscaping in the mail. I realize landscapers DO advertise, but I still don't see a lot of people going to google to find one or sending postcards in the mail. Can't even remember the last time I got a landscaping postcard in the mail.

I think they would honestly go to craigslist before they went to google. As I use to find a ton of jobs off craigslists for landscaping and never once considered using google. You will also find a lot of folks posting on CL that they NEED a landscaper, so you should try doing some lead gen over there.

I'm only giving you my opinion, and understand I could be wrong.
But I've been around a lot of landscapers in my life, and do not recall one ever using google to advertise. Most of them didn't even have websites except for the few bigger companies. Its so much easier for them to just knock on doors when they are out doing their jobs. Or word of mouth, or less often with flyers.

I think the reason people don't go on google for them is because most people assume landscapers are all the same, so when they need one they just usually flag down their neighbors landscaper. I use to get tons of jobs not even by word of mouth, but just by being out on my mower working. People always seemed to find me asking if I could do their lawn.

Good news is I consider landscaping one of the easiest business's to get leads for. Its the high paying accounts that are hardest to get, and those were all I really cared for anyway. But even those leads aren't impossible to get if you just get out there and do some canvassing.

This is why it is always best to use a tracking umber in google places so you know what is really coming in. However I do agree, I wouldn't look online for a landscaper.
