Looking for outsite eyes on why my site isnt ranking.

My site will be a year old on july and it has never come close to ranking. Ive taken brakes from it and have always tried to do the work my self but now ive started to outsource my link building. My keyword gets about 2400 searches a month. I thought that was a small keyword and wouldnt be to hard to get ranked.

Anyways I had ordered a link package with 100 high pr links, 100 wiki links, 20 2.0's, 100 EDU. I thought that since my site is older and what not this package would have at least made it move up the serps. I got a report back n all that and was able to see the links. I even pinged all of them but my site is still not even in the top 100, its somewhere around page 300.

I have now ordered social links. Bookmarks, google +, facebook likes. But those packaged havent been done yet.

So can anyone help a newbie out and explain why my site is no where to be found and what I can do to help my site move up. After its ranked ill rent it to a business. But ive been working on this project for sooo long with no pay its driving me insane!

Here is my site, Optical In Seattle|Affordability With Great Services! | Optical In Seattle
keyword is ofcourse optical in seattle

Thanks for any advice!

I don't know anything about web ranking, but I do know that the site is littered with grammatical errors and misspellings which makes it look poorly put together.

It looks like you only have the one page of content, all the other links I click on are empty. Services/contact/directions.

Also a lot of the default settings for the theme are still set. Look under your Site name it still says your business name here, same thing in footer.

I see you have the Yoast plugin activated, did you set it up to optimize the SEO?

Here is a breakdown of your H tags

      • <H1>: Optical In Seattle
      • <H1>: Optical In Seattle
      • <H2>: Business Name Here
      • <H2>: Your Optical In Seattle Business Name Here
      • <H2>: Optical In Seattle
      • <H2>: Contact Lenses- Optical In Seattle
      • <H2>: Featured Video
      • <H2>: Contact Us Now

      • <H2>: Business Hours
      • <H2>: We are located here
      • <H2>: Follow Us
      • <H2>: See Our Reviews Or Leave One For Us
      Alt tags are blank.

To me you missed a lot of onsite SEO set ups, and this was just a quick glance.

Thanks! Ill check out the yoast plugin again and see if I missed any thing.
Ill see what isnt changing in the theme seo to cause I know I updated that.

I wasnt sure if I should of put services and directions or contact info cause I dont have a client yet. But I guess Ill just do what I did with the other plugin and make it up.

I had gotten Wordpress supremacy plug in from a wso and I had to use a random optical business for the plugin widgets, on the right hand side.

What kind of linking have you done to the site? Have you done any guest blogs or reached out to bloggers in the optical field? The site looks like it was built in a hurry as well, definitely look over your on-site SEO as mentioned above.

You should really look at your on-page SEO. If you outsourced your content then you probably didn't care to check its quality. It needs to be SEO optimized with propper keyword density, preferably 3-5 H tags. I also checked to see if your site is linked and... for some reason, I couldn't find any. I think that you should make time and learn how to on page and off page optimize your site instead of outsourcing your link building and content.
Check see if you have any meta tags ( keywords and descriprion atleast ).
    Good luck!

Forget those link packages as they could jack up your rankings. Your page looks terrible. There is no seo which you will need to lie low on now anyways but only one page and empty other pages.

You said you were in a hurry but there has been a long time since last July to fix these problems.

Be careful of over optimizing your site also. Just tell your story in your own voice for your potential customers to make a buying decision.

Speak to them personally. I've found that works the best. Ignore Gerrgle or Google as I just learned to do and make it about the viewer.

I am fortunate that I always made my articles as if I was talking to a person face to face and proper grammar be dammed. I make my articles conversation instead of nerdy.

With the new google changes I just need to go back and get rid of all of the keyword stuffing crap so try to only use your keyword 3 times and forget all about that bolding, underlinine and italics stuff for a bit till the coast is clear (so I am told by smarter seo experts).

2 h1 tags... that's bad. Only use one, don't use two of the same.

You're using a subdomain trying to make that work as an EMD but it doesn't work that way. OpticalinSeattle.domainname.com would be more ideal. It doesn't count the domain name + sub domain as one keyword.

Your density is okay... but the on page really just sucks. It seems like a cluster that was definitely attempted to be optimized for search engines and not people.

Even before the latest change... people always ask why these sites are ranking without being optimized and without having better backlinks. The answer is, because they're more about the viewer.

If you build your website and market it without thinking about SEO you will likely be better off.

Ok, I did some more work on the site, I looked at a few youtube videos for onpage seo for local searches and saw another post on google for local search optimization.

Im not sure if ive over optimized the site or not. I added contect, pics on the other pages. The ones that were empty. And Ive changed the posts and got rid of the articles. Added a lot more pics. I tried to follow what the yoast plugin was suggesting.

http://optical.in-seattle-wa.org/ Is there any improvment? At least im learning and trying to get better, thanks a lot for the help guys!

IAmNameLess- Do you think it would be easier to just toss the domain name and get a new one with your suggestion? Or keep trying with this one. I tried this way cause I figured it would be a lot cheaper to have subdomains and rank them then buying 20+ domains.

      A for effort...

Toss the domain name in my opinion. You're worried about the wrong things... forget about saving money when it comes to that. Your expenses are $10 max for a domain name. It's much easier to just start fresh on a real domain with a relevant keyword instead of going the sub domain route. Sub domains would be fine if you actually had a need for them but you don't. Your main domain is nothing, so your sub domain is useless.

Everything you have learned about SEO... forget about it. It's easier to start from scratch than it is to overcome habits gained from misinformation.

Put in your content on the new domain. Optimize the title tag... add in your meta tags... add ONE h1 tag.. and let it see, see what happens, see where you rank, then adjust.

Thanks! Im gonna get a new domain tomorrow and try it and your right it's 10$ bucks for a domain... rank it, rent it for like a lot. lol would be worth it.

I dont know where I had the two h1 tags. I must of got rid of one of them cause I dont see double on the site now.

Couple quick things I saw, when you click on Facebook icon, it doesn't open in a new window/tab. You never want to take people off your page. Also, might wanna get more than one Facebook Like. People will check your Facebook Page and see there is no content posted or any type of Social Media Following.
Where do you rank on Google Maps?

    Hi TGforever,

There is excellent information on here already and just want to add a further comment about your articles you want to give the reader a good first impression with lots of quality content with helpful information. Content is always King and if there are spelling errors and doesn't make sense, both the reader and Google will side step you.

Lastly, a couple of outbound links will earn you trust as well.

    Good luck

Am I right in thinking you've closed that site now? (I can't see any content on it.) Is your new one up yet?

By the way, why 'optical in Seattle' as the keyword? I ask as I'm in the UK and think I'm missing something here - is that like us putting 'optician in [town]?' Or are you trying to cover anything to do with 'optical'?

Thanks for the tip on the facebook not opening in a new tab, ill fix that soon.

My new site is up Optical In Seattle|Affordability With Great Services! | Optical In Seattle

Also the reason why ive chosen this keyword is it gets the most searches then optician and optometrist in my city. But google keyword tool says its low comp to and gets 2400 searches.

EDIT!: Ok, so I just did a check on the site using rank tracker and already im on page 1 of yahoo and 14 in google! THATS SO EXCITING! I dont even have backlins yet!
Thanks so much IAmNameLess for explaining about the domain name being crap! You rock dude.

      COngrats...

Now new suggestion... Change your title tag, affordability with great service is useless... take out "in". Your keyword doesn't get 2400 searches a month, it gets virtually zero. Should have looked into this earlier when I responded, sorry. Seattle optical gets searches though, about 100-200 a month so take out the word in and you should be okay.

For future reference, select exact match instead of broad match when using the keyword tool.

Nice Hope it all takes off for you.

Also, no pun intended, but the optical but was an eye opener - I did the same as you did, but for London, and 'optical' outstripped 'optician', etc.

To echo a few other people here, this site needs some serious editing for spelling and grammar. Seriously, put a little effort into the text on these pages.

On the contact side bar you have this comment:

Call To Find Out If We Have Any Great Deals

Huh, tell the visitor what deals you have, they are not going to call!

On one of the pages there are three maps!

While you may be able to rank this site my guess is it won't convert the visitor to an action. It is just too jumbled up and sounds like it is done by a non-English speaker. Sorry, but I live in Seattle and I would not give this site more than one second of my time.

You will also need a Places page to back this up. Look at your search results and there are mostly Places listings (as you would expect for this type of business).
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[6155014].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author TGforever
I cant tell them the deals cause I dont have a client yet. I just used an optometrists contact info for the widgets and plugin. Maybe once its all done and its up to standards and ranking the doctor will rent it.
Same thing with the places, cant really work on that yet.
Ill fix the directions page to, thanks for pointing that out. And ill look over the text, and ive got a friend in the writing biz so ill have her look over the site as well.

To be honest with you, that site looks a bit messy and cluttered. Plus the "traditional" link building (wiki blasts etc) may not work anymore after the Penguin update.

All I can suggest for now is to improve the user experience on the site.

What wordpress plugins are you using?

Are you using All-In-One SEO? (Free version is good enough)

Do you have any blog posts or pages? I see only 3.

Do you have any On-Site SEO? Not much that I see.

Do you have your post names set: /%postname%/

My guess is that buying backlinks are not going to help you until you fix your On-site SEO issues. Did you get your meta tags right? How does your site name and description show in Google?

This looks like a very typical Panda update slap down.

I took a quick glance on your site and this is what I found:

    1. You have low amount of content above the fold. Mostly it is dominated by graphics. Google in Post Panda and Penguin likes to see the content mostly above the fold.

    2. You don't pay attention to spelling in your Title tag and you spam the word "Seattle" there.

    3. There is very low to none on-page SEO from what I can see.

    4. Your site is very "thin" on content. There are so few content on your site and Google does not like thin sites anymore.

    5. From your post, it seems to me you are inconsistent in backlinking. You only buy the backlinks once in a while. This kind of backlinking will look unnatural to Google. Be consistent in your backlinks.
