Hi Rob here,
with so many offline WSO products I am wondering what people who buy these courses, are using as proof to engage prospective clients.

The reason I am asking is because, besides building a website upfront to show customers as proof of their ability, what else can be used if you don't want take the pre-website approach to convince clients to sign up.
Thanks.

    Hey Robin Hood,

If you're in web-design you can always create a bunch of different websites/designs and use that in your portfolio to show clients an array of your work. You don't have to actually build their actual website to sell them. A portfolio should be able to convey to them that you're capable and creative to help them out.

Another way is to get references and recommendations to serve as social proof that you're a good service provider. I did this via LinkedIn and it worked out really well for me.

Check out my other thread for more info, it's too long to type out lol

People like to see number, data, %%%%%, case studies.... etc it is preferred if it's your own data but if you just starting out you can do little research and find some numbers for example if you selling SEO or adwords show how many search queries happen everyday on google, so whatever it is you selling search on it put some report together, if you gonna meet that client in person, print the info put it in a nice folder and give it to your prospect at the meeting, it will cost you a less than 1$

Yes Fadiz I agree, see my reply to pretti. I am thinking of providing a detailed SEO report of their site with the intention of saying " hey, for your money here's why you are on page 3 of google for your niche, and this is how to get to page one" Which he will hand over to his webmaster if he has a site. If they don't have site then I'll have to build one sample site and rank it as proof.

    Hey Preeti,
Your linkedin idea is great, maybe I'll try it. I did use that to sell my website building services, but I think from what I have read, offline consulting is slightly different. I put myself in the buyers shoes. Why would he buy from me? If I was in his position I would want proof of your SEO ability. He does not want just a site as my past customers, he wants a site bringing in traffic = sales.

Luckily I do know SEO, so I guess the only solution is to create an SEO site and rank it on page one of google for the chosen KW a.k.a proof.

Here's a few things that can help:

    1) SEO - site analaysis / competitor analysis of those on first page in their sectors

    2) Sometimes something as simple as indexing, building a site map for their exisiting website if they have one and haven't yet done those basic things.

    3) You would be suprised how many people are not on google maps / google mobile / google places. They are cool services to add for people and free for you and minimal effort - yet suprisingly difficult for some busines owners who have limited time to spend on their IM.

    4) Adwords vouchers - very easy to get hold of and a $50 voucher is a sizeable amount to help please a prospective buyer.

    5) Create a facebook, twitter or google + presence for clients free of charge or in addition to the website!

    6) Use your exisiting portfolio and previous successes to help seal the deal.

    7) Payment plan of half up front half upon completion can help if there are financial difficulties!

Hope this helps - I sell this sort of product on a day to day basis, you can follow my progress and get more tips from my thread here
