All the above! I think I will lead in with Web design if they dont have a website then hit em on the back end with other stuff! Mobile, SEO,FB etc... I ask This guy if he had a timeframe when he wanted to get stuff done and he said "Not sure but yeah we set up our business and went oh crap we need some online stuff"! - (I quote) So he told me to send him an e-mail and we'll take it from there. He probabaly wants me to come by his place. I will if I have to but I would rather be calling and doin closes by phone if possible! I have a lot of phone exp but not face to face! lol ~Daryn

Aha, absolutely brilliant! Yeah there are some good posts I have seen on the forum about closing on the phone seems easier that way, however most people I have come in to contact with keep their brand loyalty better when you meet face to face.

I worked for a call center for a while, and I can tell you, there's something different about selling for someone else. It's just easier.

Once you make enough calls, you start to get back in to the groove of things and everything becomes easy again. It's like jumping in to a cold pool...it's scary at first, but after you jump in, everything quickly becomes okay again.

You are so right in saying its a lot easier making calls in a call center! It is! But... The benefits of doing it from home are better I keep tellin myself! No office gossip, negativity etc... We just have to have self discipline and self motivation cause no boss is there when you wake up and go to your phone giving you some pep talk! lol I can tell just by making a few calls I made today it will all come back to me! I have no choice! If I dont I may be on Divorce court!! lol or my wife will say go find a job!! OUCH!!! So yeah I need to keep my "Why's" In Check cause the alternative would suck! I have spent a lot of money on WSO's Tools, Website etc... Not to let it go to the wayside! ya know? The Warrior Forum has really helped me a lot to! Have a great nite Stranger Danger!

You are way ahead of most people. You have at least looked in the mirror and recognized the problem. Great going. Now, sit on the phone (not literally) and keep dialing. Pretty soon you'll be cashing checks the size of watermelons. People will think you're a rock star you'll have so much loot.

        Good luck,

        Tom

Absolutely so much difference as selling a product you are not emotionally invested in is so so different. I've been thinking about cold calling recently and used to work in recruitment but plucking up the courage and getting into the right mode again takes a bit of time. Hopefully soon once I have a plan of action I'll be back on that phone.

You're not alone here! I went through the same ordeal myself--making excuses of why I wouldn't be able to prospect (I started off using LinkedIn and of course, then started calling clients to close) AND having a sales background (with a major in marketing), my previous corporate job involved calling and selling to small/mid-size businesses for outsourcing their payroll/hr services LOL

Replace payroll/hr services with online marketing and it was the EXACT same thing sales structure for my own business. I finally realized that it wasn't my circumstances, or lack of time, resources, knowledge--it was just fear.

I think when doing this for somebody else, you can logically make sense that they're "rejecting the company" but with your own business..it's more personal, it feels like they're "rejecting you". Of course, once I realized how silly this thinking was and that it was just overcoming this fear...I finally took action and *GASP* got positive results.

Make yourself a schedule, follow it strictly, record your results and celebrating your winnings! Whether it's booking a meeting, closing a deal or just having a really good chat with a business owner who appreciated your time..take the time to recognize the value that you bring to the table.

Also, try to join a mastermind or get an accountability partner. Somebody who understands what your goals are and is happy to support you (and kick your butt when needed). Accountability is key and has really helped me.

    Good luck!!!

Daryn, no problem! Honestly, that's one of the most important things when working from home--surrounding yourself with positive and encouraging people! I know exactly how you feel..that's what prompted me to quit my corporate job..I had sold more than a quarter of a million dollars in sales in less than a year..so why not do that for myself instead?!?

If you want, feel free to PM me with your top 3 goals for the week and you can always check in with me to keep me up to date! Good luck Daryn!!!

Pretend you're calling on behalf of someone else, if that helps you.

Remember not to put your whole personality on the line. You're trying to find people who want to talk with you--not force everyone into listening to you. There are a lot of (insert customer type/niche)'s out there...at least ONE is going to want to hear from you and become a client. Guaranteed.

Also, your training has helped me a lot!! Thank You! ~Daryn

I don't like phones and I absolutely hate being cold called. If I ever have to give my phone number as a mandatory piece of info I just close the page and don't bother with whatever is.

However, that's probably an extreme reaction and not representative of the majority, so if that's what you feel you need to do just bite the bullet and go for it. It's probably the fear of being rejected that holds you back (it would me), but you never have to talk to those people again if it doesn't work out and they'll totally forget about it after a while.

Oh how I relate... Glad to see someone else talk about it so I don't feel a lone. I have done serious telemarketing off and on since about 88, and I can't get myself on the phone either! lol geeeeezus H. The terrible thing is I know I would make fantastic money if I just did it for 4 to 5 hours straight daily. I was thinking of getting Skype and calling Australia to start, cuz they are so far away... lol well and I am a total nightowl. Oh well... gonna keep on tryin'... Are there any good pitches on this forum? I know I know I should use the search...

You are so right that there is no faster way to make money!

It's fear. Fear of failure or success. The solution? Just do it anyone. That is the only thing to chase the fear away. I made 50k my first year just calling an hour a day out of my home offering online advertising. I had days that I would have to talk myself into it. As I watched the statistics on the dialer, I learned the percentage that would buy. This made it unemotional when someone said no. I also focused on just enjoying the people that I talked to.

I really get tired of seeing people commenting so negatively about cold calling. You can change things fast with phone calls. I have had very few people actually get rude to me when I'm calling. I am offering a solution to their problem.

Those that say it's a horrible idea may just be to afraid to ever try it. It's the fasted way to make money!

I know one thing that holds me back is the fear of rejection. Rejection when you're calling for someone else is one thing. Rejection when you're calling on behalf of your own business? You can almost take that personal. The key is to NOT take it personal. That's hard because you know that you have something great to offer. If only you can let people know about it...
