How to find clients for web design

Disclaimer: This method isn't originally mine, I saw it a long time ago on a diff forum and twisted it in a way to work for me

Okay here it goes.

Go to go0gle and type ''website under construction'' + city

This will give a good amount of sites that still need fixing - they usually have their phone numbers and email listed. I tend to email them as cold calling isn't my thing.
Sometimes, their emails might not be listed, but not to worry, these days many companies are catching the facebo0k fever.

Type the company name into go0gle or just go directly to facebo0k and search for them. An email is usually listed.
If not, move on to the next site as there are tons out there!

Write up a good convincing email (do NOT make it lengthy) something short but extremely descriptive - offer a discount or something

Use bold/red letters to stress on points you want them to notice.

Email as many as you can on a DAILY basis - dont email once and expect results. Keep at it until you succeed.

Hope this post was helpful, if you have any questions post them here and I'll try and answer them to the best of my knowledge.

Success to you all

That's a brilliant idea. I Googled and there are quite a few in my city. Could you please give me an idea of what you would say in the email? I have just summoned up the courage to start calling, would anyone please be able to give me any ideas on an opening for a phone prospecting script?

Your advice as always is appreciated Warriors!

I followed your directions and got this error message:

"Internet Explorer has modified this page to help prevent cross-site scripting."

Has anyone else experienced this result?

That's a reasonable method although I would maybe look at leaflets in you local area or what about local paper ads - advertise offline may give you a better chance than trying too hard online

or you can narrow the search with a +@ since all email addresses have at signs, and if the @ sign is on the construction page, it'll show up in the search.

There are probably other terms you can use as well. Think of the "construction" signs you see in buildings "pardon the dust" or "men at work" or something like that.

The best way to get new leads would be to use an automated software that shows you businesses that do not have websites. of course, you could do this manually as well, except it would take a hell of alot more time.. and time IS money.

Great Share! Another footprint to add to the collection...Thanks.

    # I just slapped together a quick app, to make this method a bit quicker for everyone. Here's the direct download link, if you want to save some time:

    under-construction- websites.exe

To use it, just input your keyword (without "") and city. Choose a .txt file to save the results to...and that's it. You can also play around with different keywords/Cities too.

You might need to tidy the text file up a bit in notepad or excel afterwards....but hey...it was a ten minute bot!

Three steps to having more customers than you know what to do with:

    1. buy and learn OptimizePress
    2. Learn how to build sales pages.
    3. Study sales funnels.
    4. Use WordPress to bring in big bucks with sales funnels
    5. After you learn OP and WordPress, (or now, if you want), go join sites like odesk, elance, etc.
    6. enjoy the rest of your life.

I learned OptimizePRess and within 6 months, I had more clients than I could count. It's been amazing.

Nice idea, although I don't really know about the viability of these leads

I think you'll find that most of these people have someone doing their website already, hence it being under construction.

You will not get any clients with an attitude like that, MR.!

You've got to tell yourself: I was given a talent. A talent to help others with their design needs.

There's a lot more of them than there is of us.
