Make your clients agree to a "terms and conditions" for everything?

So for every transaction or service you do for your client do you make them sign a contract or some sort of "terms & conditions" before you begin? do you do it for EVERYTHING? or just for certain things?

(I'm asking this because I'm trying to decide whether I should make my clients agree to a terms/conditions for when hosting their website with me. I want to have them on a recurring for at least 2 years and am thinking having a terms/conditions may be important in case any client wants to jump out after a couple months)

I agree that some sort of agreement should be in place regardless of your offer. However, if you're attempting to lock someone into a two year agreement, it would stand to reason that there is some sort of penalty to not do so. Not unlike some cell phone contracts.

So if you were to propose this to me, I would have to ask, what's the benefit of comitting to 24 months with you?

My second question would be this:

Who do you think you are to try and lock me into anything?

They are getting a lot of value upfront for basically nothing. That is why I want them to lock in at 2 years.

I feel with what I am offering that if I didn't lock them in at 2 years then I would be losing a lot of money/time and my clients know that. I just don't want people taking advantage of me.

It is pretty normal to sign some sort of "terms and condition" right before we begin with a service. However, I don't quite get what you mean with "do you do it for EVERYTHING?" As a customer/client, I would prefer to sign just one contract that would state everything that I get from the service instead of signing multiple "terms and conditions" over and over again.
