Ideas on Getting Offline Clients

Hello All,

I am looking for some creative ways to get more offline clients for my mobile marketing company. We have a few clients, mainly through cold calling, but wanted to know if anyone had some methods that are really working for them or a WSO they really like (ive bought a ton) on getting new clients.

What type of "mobile marketing" are you offering? Websites, Mobile Coupons? Maybe a little more information on what you are selling exactly and I can give you some more specific feedback!

    Here You Go...

    1. Attend Local Chamber, Business Mixer and LeTip and BNI Groups
    2. Run Google Adwords Targeted Campaign for your services
    3. Ground Game - Go to downtown area of your city, have 25 sealed white envelopes with your business offering and cherry pic the businesses you want as clients. Put "Attention Owner or GM" on envelope
    4. Find a Niche and then Search Google Places and Contact the businesses that are ranked high, those are the ones that understand IM
    5. Ask your current clients for referrals, give them a discount for closed deals. Business owners know other business owners....

Sdentrepreseur mentioned Google Places. This is a great way to discover local businesses and the extent to which they are using any kind of online marketing.

Check for any WSOs on Google Places for ideas on how to use it.

But you'll need to decide on a specific problem for a particular type of business and offer a solution. Go through the local businesses in that niche. Email with telephone follow up may be good. Be prepared to show a portion of your solution.

I've posted on this elsewhere on the forum. The method that works best for me is running seminars for local business. Here's what I do:

    1. I joined the local Chamber of Commerce - these are all motivated people who run their own businesses - most are not aware of the power of SMS Marketing for business or relationship building through social media marketing

    2. I attend Chamber Networking events - get talking to people over a drink etc - hand out QR Codes Business Cards.

    3. Hire a local venue. I rented a local government business center very cheaply (£60 for a morning). You normally find that local government offices are very supportive of new business initiatives and will support with publicity, low cost rental of seminar venues etc.

    4. I set up a local business seminar on Social Media Marketing For Local Business using my power point presentation. A lot of staff from the local government office came along, together with local business people through the Chamber of commerce connection.

    5. I told my story, went through all the usual stuff on social media marketing - had a Q and A session, then had sign up forms available for anyone wanting a one on one free consultation for their business

    6. I got a lot fo signs ups in one go.

    7. I now run seminars on a regular basis and don't need to do much advertising - the word gets around and the interest grows - so does my business

    8. Help! Time to outsource - that's another post.

If you are comfortable talking to people, this is a great method. You are providing something really valuable for the business community and they know they don't have the time to implement a social media campaign, so naturally they will ask you to do it.

Then what? Backend marketing of course!

I remember a WSO that included a video and a squeeze page that showed your potential clients the benefits of using SMS marketing in their business. I have had success with targeting Restaurants. They seem to get the quickest and biggest bang for their buck with SMS. I've got all my customers from walking into the Restaurant, ordering a bite to eat and asking for the Manager. Not a great way to "SCALE" but it works when getting started.

I agree. Probably the easiest way to get started is with restaurants and some type of SMS based service. Just get some table tents printed out and then walk in and show them exactly how it works. Customer goes to buy. They are given an instant 10% off their bill if they text a word to xxxx. Customer is happy. Restaurant now has a list of PAYING customers (that's key) whom they can message special offers and deals to in the quieter times.

Nothing beats walking in and showing them exactly how things work. You get to engage all of their senses as opposed to a cold call or email. Obviously some people don't have the time or confidence for direct face to face selling and it can still be done using those less indirect methods, but face to face is almost always going to win out.

walk in with your phone and hand, ask for the owner/gm/manager, and show them on your phone or their phone.

    Shake Hands...

I recently went to Panara Bread, and bought a variety of soups and sandwiches and delivered them to local attorneys office that I live close to. I walked in, and introduced myself and told him that i'd like to start a relationship with the local businesses in my area. I gave him my card, smiled and told him to enjoy the lunch. Then I walked out so they could eat.

He called me the next day and invited me to lunch, on HIM. Now we are working on a new website design, and marketing campaign for him. That $25 netted me over $3500
