Recurring billing solution NEEDED

by D37
42 replies
I'm looking for a good recurring billing solution that accepts credit card and hopefully ACH without my clients having to sign up for a paypal account.

I've been looking at PayPal Pro.....

Any recommendations?

Some info:
- I'm a Canadian based business
- I would prefer to have a merchant account / payment gateway all-in-one system

Ask your bank if they support ACH transfers.

I use First Data through Bank of America...pretty much every virtual terminal processor is going to have the ability to do recurring payments.

Here's my contribution to the forum. Does it all.

        http://ezpaysite.com

Integrated online and offline billing, recurring, ACH, etc. deposited direct to your bank account with a master merchant account.

Your service looks pretty good! I'm a canadian based business. Would it allow me to accept recurring payments from the U.S. and Canada?

You'd need a merchant account as I see. I'd preferably like something that includes a merchant + payment gateway in one.

There are 2 types of people in this world....those who get it and those who don't. The ones that get it know exactly what we are talking about. The ones who don't are left scratching their heads.

Yes, that's what our virtual terminal fee is, which has higher PCI compliance and tokenization than Auth.net.

The $17 includes this and master merchant account fee. But if you're addicted to Auth.net you can swap for it instead.

You still need a merchant account to use authorize.net, they are just the interface..

    Hello!

You should probably ask your bank if they support or allow ACH transfers to be sure. Or you can try gulf systems. Gulf systems are very effective and easy to use and they're really good. But you can use other services since there still a lot of good and easy to use services.

    Best of Luck!

You can take a look at some payment gateways.

The top two in my opinion are:
Plimus - Sell Online, Ecommerce Software, Affiliate Network | Plimus (supports ACH)

Guys I am just off the phone with Paypal - was on with them for 50 MINUTES and went through 5 different people!!!! Pretty sad... I was trying to figure out this: If I signed up for a paypal pro account in canada can I charge peoples credit card in the U.S. as well... the 5th person I talked to told me that I can do so, but I wouldn't be able to accept american express...

I was also told that if I offered SEO (even if I gave basic seo for free) that I should not bother applying for a PRO account...

Yeah true... I don't like paypal at all, but to get going I think I should go with them... and just use the enhanced recurring billing to get me started, THEN switch to another service once my monthly service has picked up.

A merchant account though PayGear.com is going to be the cheapest. I know because I set the prices myself and I made sure of it. We also have a relationship with Authorize.net which we will supply to you in one step. We will also waive $99 Auth sign up fee and reduce the $20 a month Auth fee down to $5.

      This is getting pretty retarded.

Can't get a merchant account through my bank: all internet related services are prohibited.

The other merchant account companies I've talked to all say internet related services are prohibited, even web design. Wtf?

HOGWASH! Waay baack in 1994...when I started a "Monthly Billing" program....I bought a software program called "Checks By Fax".

This software allowed me to enter in the numbers and info from my customers checks and.....print out a "Facsimile" Check (These are checks that "Look Like" real checks BUT....the Signature line says; "Signature On File")

So....ever since those days....I've been simply printing checks on my inkjet and depositing them in MY bank account.....just as if I had received the checks ....in the Mail or...Handed to me in person.

The Software Check Program I use nowadays is "Q-Check" (no affiliation) Costs $100 after a 30 day trial.

NO Monthly Fees! NO turning over CONTROL of YOUR money to a biz that could "LOCK" your money!

Only one "inconvience"; You must have the FIRST CHECK....IN....your Hand...either in person, by fax or by phone (customer reads off Numbers on check)

You enter in necessary info into software....print out the check and... every month thereafter....you open the software program and "tell it" to "Print Checks"!

Take the "Physical" sheets of paper out of your inkjet printer....sign or stamp...."For Deposit Only" on the back of each check....make up your deposit slip and ...Whala....deposited!

So....initially....a little inconvience to get the Initial Check (My clients FAX their checks to me for the FIRST CHECK)....thereafter....I just tell the software to "Print" and whala!

So....there it is....a SIMPLE way to collect monthly.

Sure beats trying to explain to clients HOW to "Sign Up For PayPal" or any other collection deal. Plus....noi concern about "some other company LOCKING DOWN your account, for whatever reason".

D37 - I totally feel your pain - am in the same scenario.

I have a membership site, need system to manage members (registration, multiple levels of members with different fees - monthly, quarterly or annual billing options), need to manage affiliates and need to process payments.

Trying to get all that to work is like taking on a Manhattan project. I am not a tech guy - trying to figure this stuff out is just absurd.

Centurions "BankCard Business Blueprint" system seems pretty good from a payment processing system (from what I can tell) but if I want to have this integrated with membership and affiliate management I have to also purchase and learn 2 additional software packages. $250 costs - plus now there are 3 separate systems to learn and integrate. This means a couple of weeks of time and significant developer costs too. So to go that route costs thousands and takes weeks.

Paygear.com will require I get a merchant account - which I have no idea how to even start trying to do, plus to manage memberships I will need another software system. So that leaves 2 software systems to learn and integrate to my site plus having to get a merchant account. Time consuming and complex again.

Using something like S2 Membership plugin for wordpress integrated with Paypal seems much cheaper up front and perhaps less complex - but the payment processing itself is more expensive so longer term its terrible and there are still 2 new systems to learn and have developers integrate. Also - I do not trust paypal AT ALL. So - long term horrible costs and still short term time consuming and expensive plus simply not acceptable due to paypal crookedness.

S2 member with Clickbank for processing is a possibility - but that means giving up 10% or revenue! Absurd.

Not being a tech guy makes this sort of stuff a massive pain. I know I am not alone. I would gladly pay someone $500 to figure out what the best solution is for my scenario, install and integrate it all so its ready to work and then give me a tutorial session for how to use it going forward. I bet there are tens of thousands of others in the same boat - clearly a business opportunity for someone.

    Tspringer,

At PayGear you do not need a merchant account but we can supply one to you if you desire to have have. Otherwise you can certainly use our product with PayPal or Google Checkout.

However, if you do want your own merchant account just fill out our form here

Credit Card Setup - Shopping Cart | Affiliate Software | Sell Online

and we handle everything for you and supply you the merchant account within 48 hours in most cases. Our system is very easy to use and yes we agree an affiliate manager keeping 10% is absurd.

Chris - just confirming that getting a merchant account through Paygear will work for Canadian-based business?

Currently I have a merchant account with Avid Payment with Authnet Gateway and had to open US Bank Account with Harris which meant I needed to also have US mail forwarding service....all of that adds up $$ and complexity. I've run with this for a few years now, but would like to change to merchant account supports CND address.

      Two more questions...

      1. Any problem linking the $US merchant account to US Dollar account at Canadian Bank?

      2. I use Membergate as my membership management software, they only work with certain gateways that support AuthorizeNet, Verisign or Linkpoint - will this work with PayGear? If so - any extra fees involved working with these speciifc gateawys?

      Thanks,

      Jeff

Yes, inside your membersgear members area there is an affiliate area. This will give current members their affiliate link so they can refer new members. If your billing is monthly recurring then you can pay your members monthly.

Also note PayGear lets you set different percentage payments for first month and additional months payments if you desire that.

Does Paygear integrate into Digital Access Pass?

You may use auth.net with us and any merchant you want. However, we do provide the lowest price merchant for those who need it. You would need to Ask dap if they support us, I dont know. We do have full API so they could very easily.
