Long story, but, I'll make it short...

Did AC last weekend (that's Atlantic City for all of you non-gamblers, lol) and lost my shirt - $1,200 to be exact. HATE losing money, however, that's what you get when you're dumb enough to gamble, like I do So...

Slept all day Monday due to Sunday being an all-nighter, and hit the phone HARD first thing Tuesday morning until today. Did just over $2,000 in business All one-call-close, ice cold phone calls.

No, it's not a million dollars. No, it's not meant to be a bragging post. I was in a bit of a rut prior to this week, so, decided to go back to basics. Shortened my pitch, rounded up some premium leads and voila, back in the game

Been selling over the telephone all my life. It's what I do best. Come to think of it, it's the ONLY thing I do best. But, we all have those tough days, weeks & months. So, take it from me...

When all else fails, SELL, SELL, SELL & don't take no for an answer

    I haven't been to AC in 20 years. Do they still have that restaurant shaped like
    a 2 or 3 story elephant?

    now more on point, about your "rut" since you said you shortened your pitch...
    i am guessing ... talking past the close?

    isn't it amazing, with all the years of experience... we still do that, and all the other
    stupid little things we do when we hit that "comfort zone"

    from king of the hill, to worse then a rookie... in one phone call ...

    you would think by now, we would not ignore the warning signals ...

    my longest no sales slump ever in 21 years was a tad over three weeks...
    i was damn near apoplectic ... i was so depressed/angry, i started doing
    everything and anything ... which of course is the worst thing to do..

    any way, unless you have a credit card in your hand, i am not much of a talker

    but, i like your style, so i figured i would say hi.

    This has been a KILLER week for me and I'm loving it... except now I have a ton of stuff to do that I can't get done fast enough. LOL. I'd like to go to AC sometime, never been. Only been to Vegas.

      Vegas - Atlantic city... no comparison ... @ all.

      except AC has the ocean if you like that over the desert.

        Although I think Vegas is great to visit and have a bit of fun, the big picture is being overlooked. I think what the salesguy is reminding us of is this:

        Those among us who understand the value of being able to generate sales, whether our method is cold calling, direct mail, email, or walking door to door, can generate income regardless of circumstance.

        Now he's a great believer in cold calling, as am I and many others. But the reason I included other methods was because I didn't want this thread to go off in the direction of discussing the merits of the phone and cold calling. But rather the value of knowing not just how to sell, but how make sales happen as well.

        As far as Atlantic City or Vegas, at the end of the day, you're in a big room with no windows or clocks and some dealer is hollering "money plays!"
