I am new here. Can you guys give me some ideas on the best way to get clients in a small country with tons of attractions, villas and resorts which get most of there customers from international tourists from US, Canada and UK? There are also car rentals, restaurants, taxi services, and souvenir shops.

    Here is what I suggest.
Learn to market, before selling your marketing services.

Locate tour organizers / hotel comparison sites for US and buy ads on those sites.

Create a tourism site, aim it in Google at the US, create awesome content, rank pages for a few keywords, and you're in business.

Buy lists of people who travel often to places like yours, send them your mail pieces.

It would be easier to advice if you were more specific in your current area of interest or what your business is or will be about.
Promoting a whole city is far different than promoting a single business..

    regards

Sounds like an opportunity to sell international SEO/marketing which can bring in some nice revenue for you. Are there any local tradeshows or conferences or somewhere you can meet them?

You're wanting to provide marketing services and/or websites to local businesses?

I'd leave the chains alone and go for the locally owned businesses because you'll likely meet the
owner or decision maker straight away. National or international chains will have their own marketing departments.

Study the online and offline advertising, and web presence of the businesses that you want to work with. Come up with a trip wire service - small but paying service they will benefit from if you do it right -
to get in the door. Something like claim their Yelp and/or Google places pages for them. Then, as you work with them, hopefully the relationship will build so you can offer more.

Meet the decision makers by walking into their business, or calling them, or attending networking events, chamber of commerce events, doing community service or volunteer work, or network at any other business promotion groups or events.

I manage a hotel and would love to get more direct bookings, and pay less for customers than we pay in commissions to hotels.com and the likes.

SO, you could offer web design, SEO - local and international, social media management, video marketing and so on.

Is there a good, online local business directory? If not you could build one and put businesses on and have free and paid spots, or charge for their article /video or photos to be place on your site.

Is there a Chamber of Commerce or business promotions group that needs services? My town's Business Promotions Committee hired someone for $8500 and some ongoing to build a new website that promotes the town.

Giving suggestions actually helped me in knowing it because one of my friends does it and i am sure providing him this source would be something quite helpful for him.
