Sending a lot of messages on Linkedin?

Hello everyone,

Just wondering if any of you that are experienced with Linkedin know if there is a limit to sending messages on Linkedin. I don't want to get my account suspended but I have not read anywhere that they block you for sending messages?

Linkedin will restrict your account if you receive 5 "I don't know this person" responses.

If that happens, you will only be able to invite people by having their email address. I think they let you undo this restriction one time.

Yes, that's for sending invitations though. I'm asking about messaging people. I did about 50 without any problem. However I don't want to get suspended.

Abbot, I believe you can send one message out to up to 50 contacts in one shot. In terms of a daily limit on how many messages you can send out (50 max. at a time), I believe it's unlimited if they're you're first tier of connections.

Regardless, you want to make sure you're not spamming, not worth it and it's happened to me and totally turns off the LI user! In my case, it was from somebody in the online/mobile marketing space and I'm thinking..."shouldn't you know better??!?!"

There is no limit to the number of messages you send. You can send these messages 1 at a time to either 1st connections or group members.

But, of course, make sure you aren't just spamming these members. If your messages provide no value, and enough people report you...than you could run into an issue.

FYI - I'm aware that linkedin monitor people mass mailings to their tier 1 connections. Too many complaints and you'll get your account suspended. This is from a senior linkedin employee.

If you send messages without strategy or using your contacts first name could be a flag and they can mark you as SPAM. Think wise before sending a massive Message campaign.
I can help you more on Linkedin if you want.

How well do you know these people you will be mailing? Could you establish a closer bond with the people before mailing them, such as interacting through a LinkedIn group before you send this out? Maybe this would cut down on the chances the people receiving the message would complain.

Why not ask others if they want information, and if so, offer to send it to that person via private message, rather than randomly picking people on your contact list at LinkedIn to message. If LinkedIn gets complaints, they will take notice and likely suspend or ban your account. This won't happen if people have actually requested the information before hand.
