Made my first REAL DEAL website sale today!

By "real deal" I just mean my first 2 websites I did really cheap, and it was through family I got the referal.

But now I found this new client through a friend referal (which is different imo, he can now tell his friends, who can tell their friends etc etc). He's a friend of my boss, he also owns multiple businesses (3 total, my boss owns 2, then they have another friend who owns 2, [I very seldomly find people who own multiple businesses like this] so I really want to work my way into this tight little "golf network" where all these golfers/business men hang out at this one expensive club).

That actually gives me a new idea, I seem to know so many business owners who play golf on the weekends that I should just start playing myself and leaving brochures/business cards in my golf bag lol.

Anyway guy says straight out "how much do you charge, and please be fair", I KNEW this guy was loaded, warrior forum immediately flashed between my eyes, and the word "$750" came out of my mouth. I then told him "if anyone offers to do it cheaper for you, thats because you're getting a low quality website. Your niche is in a competitive industry, so you need a top notch website otherwise you're just going to waste your money in the long run".

Guy agreed, didn't try to negotiate down at all!

NOW, my plan involves OVERDELIVERING SO MUCH that this guy wets his pants. I'm going to make a really professional, clean, responsive site. Then on top of that I'm going to set him up a facebook fanpage, and get a few fans in there. Will also get him a few more testimonials online.

When I give the site back to him, I'm going to show him his fan page and testimonials, and offer if he wants to market his site too I can also help him with that.

I'm trying to weasel my way into this high end golf club where all my bosses buddies hang out. If I can start getting more referalls just through this one club alone, I'm thinking it would be an excellent way to get my own web design business going.

I got to admit I LOVE DOING THIS! Lets just hope I can find more work now!

THANKS WARRIOR FORUM - Without you guys I really can't imagine all the money problems I'd be dealing with. Its like I look at EVERYTHING around me as an opportunity to make money, so now when opportunities present themself, I hone in on them and try to milk them, when before I would have completely ignored them and said "who would pay me to do that?"

God how believing in yourself can really impact your life, its just insane.

I'm totally happy to hear that.

You are on the right path with what you're doing...overdeliver, as it's your first. I'm in similar stages to you. I need more clients as I've already built a few great sites, and better paying client.

Personally, I treat every client/project as if it's a multi-thousand client/project, even if they gave me a few hundred bucks. In time, it should pay off.

    Keep up the good work.

Oh, do you have a website marketing your services?

Great job. There is awesome money in offline clients like this. If you know how to sell yourself well and network with people well it is probably one of the fastest ways to full time income.
