What do you do with the namecards you collected?

Hi all,

I just set up a new business and have been actively networking for the past few days. I have been collecting alot of new namecards from various business owners but I don't really do anything with them. Since my business is generic, Almost anyone can be my client, what should I do with the namecards I collect after every event?

    Hi Rod,

Have you thought about sending out an email with a it was nice to meet you 'special offer'?

    Eg.

    Hey Doris,

It was great to meet you at the Pumpkin Festival Networking event last Tuesday. I really enjoyed learning about you and your business.

I just wanted to let you know that I am doing a special deal for business owners that I met at the Pumpkin Festival Networking Event - I'm offering {a free trial/50% off/ $100 discount } of my {Insert Your Product Here} and wondered if you might be interested?

I know that that is a great deal, and so I can only offer it to 20 people, so I really do hope you'll take me up on the offer.

Look forward to hearing from you soon,

    Rod

I'd also make sure that I plug everyone's name and email address into my email marketing manager and send them weekly/monthly updates with free tips etc until they realise they need to use your service.

Never thought of an email with a 'nice to meet you special'. Will do that next week. I am writing a short report and will add them to my mailing list as well. Thanks for the tip.

If you can work with them for long run and keep their records, you have to be planned. Depending on what you want to do you can keep an Excel sheet for making database with those cards. Where you can keep their mail address for email marketing, contact number for text/sms marketing, even address for direct marketing.

Suzy's approach is excellent. We have seen a lot of success doing the same thing. You'll be surprised how important your contacts feel that you sent them a "thanks for meeting me" message.
