Using Direct Mail for Seminars

I've heard a lot about direct marketing and mailing prospects pamphlets, sales letters, and other collateral.

Has anyone used direct mail for inviting prospects to a seminar or presentation?

I feel like by getting them in the door to a presentation that you could easily build your credibility and build yourself up as an expert AND then sell.

What are your thoughts?

Direct mail would be great to fill a seminar, as long as you're mailing to a customer list, not a prospect list. The key to filling seminars is the relationship, people can and do fill seminars with TV & newspaper ads, but it's very expensive and you need a great offer.

You may be better off mailing to sell some kind of product, then filling your seminar from that list.

    • Thanks Brian!

I've heard that from my SEO friends.

They feel like I'd have to have a relationship or stand out some how.

There's a WSO out now from someone who says he's used seminars very successfully. He says you have to sell them face to face, but f2f they're easy to sell. I used to do training in hospitals years ago and decided to offer the training to medical offices via direct mail. Sent 1,000 letters, got one lead.
