Offline Marketing WORKS if You Put Effort Into It!
Here's what I don't have:
1.) website
2.) business cards
3.) business name
4.) portfolio
All I have for any type of credibility is 3 happy customer testimonials...
This is what has been working for me:
I target the medical weight loss & plastic surgeon niche for Google+ Local. I look for practices that are currently using Google AdWords but don't have their Google+ Local (God I hate saying that!) listing on page one for their targeted main keywords.
Once I have my list of about 30 or so, I use Camtasia to record an approximately 10 minute video showing these practices/businesses how to clean up their NAP consistency, build citations, claim listings and I give a couple ideas on how to naturally drive reviews. After I upload each video to Screencast.com, I create a short email with the subject line "question?" and in the first line of the email I ask them if they could handle an additional 6-10 new patient consultations per month and let them know they are under-utilizing one of their web properties. I tell them I've created a short video to show them why this web property is important, why they aren't getting the targeted leads they should and MOST importantly, how to fix it.
I include an image of their homepage and link it to my Screencast video made just for them at the end of the email and instruct them to click on their own website image to see what I'm talking about.
Currently my open rate is 52% and conversion to client is about 15-20%. I use pointofmail.com to track reads, forwards & time taken to read my emails.
Out of every 17-20 emails, I 'll get 2-3 replies asking for more info or help and 1 phone call. 2 days after I sent the emails, I call and follow up with every practice to make sure they got the email and ask if they need any help.
This alone has been working fantastic for me and since I started I've also started offering traditional SEO, PPC management & social media.
The trick is my first transaction is usually for no more than a $500 one-time project to prove myself...oh yeah and I outsource 100% of the work...
My point here is if you put in the effort and realize that it's hard to "mass market" as one person getting started, then laser target a good niche and combine email, video & picking up the phone...it works and you now have your foot in the door. In fact, I've received 2 referrals from clients I picked up on Monday.
I'm not bragging but letting all the other newbies know that this stuff works, it's not a get rich quick kinda thing but over time I see myself getting long-term work, up-sells now that these businesses trust me, and most importantly referrals! I find that a lower barrier of entry helps me convert more business even though I lack a lot of things that an experienced Offline Marketer has.
That being said, I 'm open to critique or suggestions from you Senior Warriors.
Thanks!
