Live Cold Calling Starts in 2 days!! Gimme Your Best Script and I'll Test it...

Hey guys, there's been a lot of talk and discussion about cold calling lately. I've found myself discussing it as well without really putting it into practice. So here's my idea.

In 2 days time I will start doing cold calling live. I'll give you all my stats as I go along.

Here's where you come in...

I want your best scripts to try out. Post em below. I'll try out the ones I think I can pull off and give you feedback.

WHY DO THIS?

I've done this before on here and it's helped quite a few warriors out. It also gives me HUGE accountability.

Andrei, scripts are a guideline you can follow so you make sure to hit every point you're trying to make -- In other words, a checklist. Scripts never go as plan which is fine, however they will help keep you on track.

Exactly. People often make the mistake of using a script line-by-line. This isn't the right way to go about it.

Keep a natural flow of conversation. Try to come across as more of a consultant that actually cares about thier business and wants to help, rather than a sales person that wants to help himself.

I dont use scripts at all, but If you MUST.. then, only use a script to make sure you don't stray too far from your main objective

I think that's pretty cool. When people see others doing it, it can help them get into a better state of certainty about phone sales.

By the way.. @kenmichaels sniperbotpro works like a champ. Great product.

I don’t have a phone script that I feel is the best. I tend to taylor them to the clients needs that is asking for one and they pay me for it.....

However let me at least give something mixing in one of your other threads.

Hello is jim in this is Michael, actually tell him its Michael Bucker.

Hey Jim Its Michael Bucker with ________. I fix the big internet problem everyone is running into. You may not be having these problems yet and may not need me at all.

I don’t want to waste your time or mine so I will ask you a quick five questions so you and I can determine if I am even needed or not. Then I can either help or let you get on with your day. "Is that alright with you? It will save us both some time." ( or leave that line out if you want to be assumptive)

Jim, the first question is, do you know how if how many people are looking for your website but end up on one of your competitors sites?___________

Jim do you know how many people visit your site?_________

Has anyone shown you how, or do you already know how to not only get your potential clients to your site instead of your competitors, but instead have some of theirs come to yours as well as generally increasing your traffic? __________

Jim, have you lost business since the internet craze has started? __________

Would you like to get some of that business back or use the internet to create more with your site instead where it will work for you instead of losing more every day? _________

Now since I train sales people instead of selling websites or seo services you may want to change some of those up. But if you are calling businesses the same businesses that tell me every day that the internet is killing their sales, then those may be good questions to start with.

Michael - that's awesome thank you.

I assume that's a conversation with a director. Do you do preliminary calls to get the directors name?

I have their name usually a head of time but not always one way or the other. One thing I have done to get the name assuming gatekeeprs don't give them out. Which most claim that is their experience. So if you want an owner or decison makers name call and when the gatekeeper answers don't ask for the boss. Ask instead for a salesman or another employee of some sort. Then simoply tell the truth. Most other employees are very helpful and don't mind spouting off info.

Just say I'm _____ and I do web work. What is the owners name again? Oh I see Is he usually in? Does he make these kinds of decision or has he handed that down to another? Is so what's that persons name?

Gatekeepers are the only ones told to filter people out the rest of the staff ususally freely gives the info you need.

Since I do a lot of face to face cold calling it is easy for me to walk up to who I want to ask before going to the gatekeeper but I have done the same on the phone.

That is the million dollar question isn't it brother. I have a strong belief that any market you go after is profitable, you just need the angle. For example I have trained car sales people as all know. I have also trained clothing sales reps, jewelry, furniture etc. However I have also assisted construction companies on how to market themselves.

The biggest key is taking a look at becoming proactive properly. The term is loosely thrown around but often not implemented properly. I specialize in helping individual sales people grow their personal customer base regardless if the company is or not. Actually any one sales rep can grow as high as they want regardless of the company's growth or lack thereof.

        Chris,

I read Michael's post and he certainly gets pretty far along in the conversation. I am a bit limited in that I only want to know if we can do business so my script is:

"Hi Joe, My name is Tom Koziol and I own a local web design and marketing company. I was wondering if we can get together on a website or marketing."

For those who read Durham's material the first sentence is his. The second sentence is mine and cuts to the chase. They know exactly who I am and why I am calling. Works like a charm for me so I keep using it.

Believe it or not when they start asking questions, and they do, bingo! a great prospect. If they say no, I go away. Don't want to force the issue w/any questions cuz I don't care. There are 100 people still waiting to hear from me.

Love to hear your experience w/the darned thing if you care to use it. If not, OK w/me.

        Have a great day,

        Tom

Have anyone in here listened or read to Keith Ferrazzi? He gave a lot of insight about cold calling in his book (Never Eat alone)... He says cold calling is for losers... You better start networking to connect with someone else instead cold calling...

Why don't you ask your friends, family or acquaintances if they know someone interested in your offer...?

You are brave saying that in a cold calling thread.
I think maybe Keith probably lost at cold calling, right?...just guessing

Even Lenin had to cold call. Read about the gimoke and you'll see he did it by riding around the countryside trying to convert people to his philosophy and it was mostly in the winter and it was cold outside.

All calling is cold calling except for referrals. To a certain degree even referrals are a cold call. Stop reading nonsense and get on the phone or go pound the bricks. You'll make more money.

Networking is cold calling but spelled differently in case you haven't dissected the word. Losers ask their friends, family and acquaintances because they ain't got the gumption to ask anyone else. They are afraid someone might say no so they put their mommy and daddy in the middle.

No offense, but that comment brings nothing to this conversation. One of the main reason I am doing this is to show people on the warrior forum you've just got to pick up the phone.

I hate it, but it is effective. If I can do it and people follow along, then hopefully there is some value for fellow warriors.

Please don't come here just to tell me cold calling doesn't work...
