Does it ever stop? You're in for a big surprise once you start. I continue to use email as a part of my marketing but I've sent about 2,000 emails out today, and I might get a sale, maybe 2 if im lucky.

LOL! Nameless, this is like the 5 or 6th tread I've read where someone is asking about email (in one form or another) and I've come to the conclusion that you're gonna have a mental breakdown man!..someone get this guy a beer!

I guess the fact is, most of us hate calling while some, like you and a few others, can deal with it.

Myself, that is all I do all day long at my regular gig (smile and dial), so I'm pretty much toast at the end of the day. I sure as HELL am not going to come home and do it. Long live email!!!!

You need to develop a relationship. One of the best ways is by direct mail that leads them to your blog or website. Then have them opt in to a series of autoresponders.

The COC (chamber of commerce) is another way to meet small business owners. Once you get in with a few it starts to snowball if you work it right. It's all about gaining their trust.

I go to local functions, collect biz cards and tell them I'll send them an invite to my free email newsletter.

Once I'm in their inbox then the sky is the limit. Ask for biz or ask for referrals. Give good info and make good offers.

Check out on directories site , yellow pages, or buy some email database provider.
You can either collect the email list by your own or buy the list from provider , then use your own email blaster to blast it out or purchase EDM service to help you blast it .

The directory is a good place to start. I get my prospects from there as well.

One more thing I'd like to share. No matter how many leads you have, it's worth nothing if you can't send out the right message. Many business owners today are skeptic and only care getting in touch with those who can make them money.

So be sure to personalize your email. Take time to learn about the business before you contact them. Start off with a friendly introduction of yourself and compliment their business (don't over do it though. Your prospects will sense that.) Then let them know that you can provide more value to their business by doing (insert your service here) for them.

Also, your email should sound as casual and light as possible. This is really important especially considering that you're reaching out via email and not face to face.

Hope this helps. Good luck to yah!
