i hate paypal they wont let me take payments for some reason.
i had 4 clients ready to pay me in total of 8,000$$
anyways i signed up to square and yes i was able to take the payments but since they were over the phone key in transaction this guys are really putting on hold on my money for a whole month
they have a 1,000$ limit for key in transactions.
i am so mad because i was so happy i was going to get paid and be able to go to vegas this weekend for the convention that's going on over there.

anyways does anyone have any recomendations as what should i use to process cards?
like any good merchant account?

I use Payza.com, never had problems with them so far, but I mainly use them because they're based where I live so if I have a problem I can just drop by at their offices.

    LOL.. sorry.

That sucks, but no merchant account is going to be better. You're lucky it's only for a month instead of 6 months like what happened to me.

    Use checks.

that's crazy i would refund that money if they would ever do that to me.
i guess i can wait a month. i can continue to make 1,000 per week for a month and after that i will start to receive everything that they are holding week after week.

That's what they say.... but eventually you're going to have longer holds. That's how processors like those work. They aren't real merchant accounts so they don't even have a say in when you can REALLY get your money back lol. Just be glad you aren't locked and have the 180 day holds.

Start accepting checks as soon as you can, less risky.

Square held our money at the beginning, but we called them, gave them pour business details and they raised the limits a lot.

Of course, if you don't have a real business and are just doing this on the side, it may not work for you.

Yeah, happened to me also. Paypal really sucks. I also had a client once and Paypal wont allow him to pay me. I don't know what's causing this problem.

I recommend authorize.net, I use it and get paid (directly deposited into my account) 2 days after i run the card (assuming i run it before 7pm local time).

use The Global Standard for eSignature | Electronic Signature, e-Sign, and Digital Signatures from DocuSign to have your clients sign a binding agreement with you (pricing, service, refund policy, contact details, etc). a few simple sentences about what you do work best. I usually put all sales final or non-refundable verbiage on the agreements.

    Chris,

I was amazed because I got turned down for Auth net, over a business that failed years ago... Merch inc is the same thing basically, but the approval process was butter.

John, I hope you read this because I tried PMing you but I'm sure you're like me and you rarely read PMs.

Authorize.net directly is tough to get approved for, but all these agents and resellers can get you set up. The link in my sig, I tried warning you, I removed it because they have held $42,000 from me, for 180 days. I guess, not them directly, but iPayment who is the actual processor, so I can't recommend that.

I'm done with credit cards entirely. I'm not processing another credit card as long as I can help it.

Since I'm selling somewhat locally (60 mile radius) I'm there in person and pick up their check.
I start out prospecting by phone. Find those who want what I'm offering. Then set up a time and go out and see and close them.

But soon (I'm really tired of schlepping around) I'll want to close over the phone.
If CC's are not a viable option, what do you suggest as a form of payment?

Mailing a check? That leaves too many holes for them to not to.
I like a check in my hand while they're stoked for my offer. No cooling off period.

I was planning on CC sales. But after reading all of these horror stories, I'm thinking that's not a real good idea.

        Your thoughts would be appreciated.

          Mike,

My business came close to falling apart because of credit cards. Know what I did when it almost fell apart and I couldn't process anything? I got a laserjet canon printer, some checks, some software and I process all my payments over the phone with check. I only had one person say he would prefer to mail a check, and that's because they have a (100 person) company and it's easier for them to do it that way so they have a paper trail.

No fees, no risk of chargebacks, no risk of random holds, you deposit the money and it clears usually faster than CC payments. That's how I'm doing EVERYTHING now... have more trips to the bank, but who cares? Bank tellers are 99% of the time hot.

I do agree that the bank tellers are hot most of the time...makes the trip and the queue so much more exciting.

I had problems with paypal and have to go down to their office and speak with them direct. They cleared my money but that was when I decide to also include cheque as a payment option.

I will include on my sales page saying that if they pay by cheque, they will get a further 5% discount.

i actually tried to get paid the way you do it. but they don't trust giving out a check because of the bank account number being there.
well at least that happened to me 2 times so i stopped trying

what if you have clients all over the US.
are they willing to pay with a check over the phone?
like i know there is software for that.
but would clients go for that? because my agents who is helping me he says he has had bad experience on getting paid thru checks.

but just like you say my business is close to falling apart because of CC and i am kind of scare.

If your agent has bad experience, that just means he isn't that good and is PROBABLY one of the reasons you're having problems with credit cards.

Clients in almost all 50 states bro!

my agent is the best. he can bring in 1 or 2 sales for web design and SEO in one day.
if it wasn't because i can't take cc i would not have a problem.
that is how he brought me 8,500$ in sales in only 3 days.

but since you don't have any problems. can you please advice me.

I tell them to pull out their check book instead of their credit card.

I don't know how to really address those questions because I don't have that problem. If they refuse to pay with a check then they aren't qualified.. on to the next.
