My "Foot in the door" Story

This is how I got my "foot in the door" at a local auto repair shop.

I had to take my car to a local repair shop because of an assortment of issues. I noticed that this shop had a very small amount of reviews online for their business.

After they fixed my car (they did a great job), I designed a simple busness card for them to pass out to their customers, asking them to leave a review of some kind on the business' Google + page in exchange for a discount on their next visit. I added a QR code and redirected URL pointing to the business's Google + page to make it easy for the customers to leave a review. It cost me 20 bucks for domain and printing.

I did this all for free for the client. The client now wants to work with me exclusively, has purchased a video from me, and thanks me every time I talk to them.

I feel that providing a simple free service to a prospective client can go a long way.

Always look for opportunities. The worst they can say is NO but they may very well say yes and then you have a client. Well done.

Great story. Proves opportunities can be found even in troubles (like a car needing repair). If you at first don't find the silver lining, your cloud is bigger than you thought. Keep looking.

Can you show us an image of your business card? I am just trying to frame this in my mind.

        Thanks,

Sure. Pretty simple design, nothing fancy. I've blacked out my client's details for obvious reasons.

Thanks Dave, but I seem unable to download this thumbnail image. Is anyone else having this same problem?

              Try this:

"right click" the image...then "open in new window"

              it worked for me. HTH
