What's your perfect model?

What is your ideal biz model for the long run? If you tried to satisfy as many of the points below, which model would you choose? Besides what's listed, are there any other requirements that you would have?

  • Can be done without leaving your house, a work-at-home situation
  • Doesn't matter where you live, can be done anywhere in the world
  • Can easily be out-sourced with minor supervision
  • Requires no in-person meetings or appointments
  • All work is done by you over the Internet
  • Easily scalable and un-limited growth possible
  • Does not require constant monitoring
  • No customer support necessary, runs by itself
  • Requires no more than 10-20 hours per week to keep it going
  • So easy even a newbie could do it
  • Competition is not a threat, there is enough for all who take action
  • A model that can be worked even if you are retired and in semi-bad health
  • The biz can be sold if you choose to
  • Makes you a minimum of $10,000 a month for years to come
  • Not Google dependent
  • Has to be a recurring income
Just curious,

Eva

It's best to pick the top few that are most important to you, devise a business model and follow through with it.

Almost everything can be scaled and outsourced really, if you think about it.

I would say scalability is the most important factor when it comes to a business model though, personally.
Yes, the points are made to be extreme just for the sake of discussion. My curiosity is, what model do you think comes the closest?

The perfect BUSINESS model is one that works.

These points are not characteristics of a working business model, these are characteristics of a work from home internet marketer. It doesn't mean it's the best.

Customer support is required in pretty much everything... except adsense, amazon or affiliate stuff, but that is depending on Google.

There is no such thing as unlimited growth potential. Every industry, every market, has a limit.

10-20 hours/week is not likely, unless you are just a share holder and have someone else as CEO.

You could try a membership site, or something like that but it's still going to require a lot of time.

The myth of the 4 hour work week, and all the crap you see about working 1 week a month, you should just ignore it. Many people, myself included, will work 16 hours a day 7 days a week in order to succeed. I'm not saying its entirely impossible but it's improbable because a business needs nurturing, monitoring, and it needs your attention.

The reality of business is, that newbies can not do it. It's usually not a matter of skill, it's a matter of business sense, persistence, and the ability to adapt. The ability to wear a lot of different hats.

I'd love to not have to work hard, and just get drunk with some models in puerto rico or something, but until I hit multi millionaire status, I don't think that's going to happen!

The closest thing in my opinion.... is day trading, membership websites, and maybe a rent a site model, but that's kind of dependent on Google.

      Yes,

I would say that would qualify, lol.

It's in a sense, a membership site and there are many other versions of membership sites with a recurring income. Thanks,

        Eva,

Can you be clearer as to who you are answering? You say that that would qualify, but to whom are you referring to?

The answer I gave was referring to a membership model (but did not specifically state that; however, IAmNameless brought that up)!

        Cheers,

        JMB

            Hi Eva,

            Thanks for clearing that up.

Glad to know that you see the potential with membership sites.

Actually, this type of business model was totally off my radar, as I thought that that was something that was TOO LABOURIOUS (TIME-CONSUMING), UNTIL I purchased Brian's WSO. Boy, did he enlighten me on how profitable (with little effort) that this particular business model is.

            Cheers,

            JMB

P.S. Thanks again, Brian, for putting together your brilliant WSO.

    Eva:

    Here's my two cents:

I enjoy writing of any sort, so I'm going to check out JMB's suggestion further. I'm also attracted to the rent-a-site model iAmNameLess mentions. Jack Mize has a good product in that niche. I'm just getting my team started with just such a service.

Of course it's unrealistic to believe anyone has a formula that fully meets all of your points, but many people are coming very close. I do agree, however, with the contention that it takes more than just a custodianship role to get a successful business off the ground. Unless you are a born manager with very deep pockets, you're going to want to do a lot of the initial work yourself.

It is a provocative premise, though. . .

LOL!!! That's a great one! I was thinking the same thing but thought it'd be rude to post it.

On a series note.....directory sites and outsource the sales side. Buy John Durham's Bower Formula materials and the RST Listing wordpress theme and you'll be all set.
