Is this a good idea for my brick an mortar business

I came up with an idea for advertising my business and wanted to see if anyone has any advice on this. Say my business is in city a. This is where my google places listing is and I have my main domain linked to this such as landscapercitya.com. Now what if I created sites for the other cities around me such as landscapercityb.com landscapercityc.com etc would it be better to build those pages out and try to rank them organically if someone searched like landscaper city b or should I just link them back to my main page?

Hope that makes sense. Also what are some tips to rank organically at the top of google over places?

Thanks

Do you own the landscaping company? You said "My brick and mortar business" that's why I'm asking.

Are you in a metro area? Why not just buy the domain for the main city in the metro area and set up pages for the smaller suburbs around it?

So you mean like purchase phoenixlandscaper.com and then have pages on the city with each smaller city around it?
