Is anyone working with hotels?

I was looking through keywords today and it seems like a really interesting niche.

Yea, for smaller non chain hotels it can be big business. Think B & B, vacation rentals, beach rentals, etc. I explored the niche last fall and it can be very lucrative. I read a WSO that opened my eyes to the industry.

Had a few good leads, but never closed down a deal. It would be a great niche as you could work a deal (one week per year free at the resort) and vacation 2-3 months out of the year.

As far as I could tell most B & B places has websites that were built when Clinton was in office. Also, with site like Air B n B, they need all the help the could get. I would look into social media (Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube) for smaller hotels/B n Bs.

I agree! Find good KW ( use Google, search for hotels, look at other hotels web sites... ) and add city name, because when someone is coming, let's say in NYC..
They will search google for "hotels in NYC" "Hotels in New York" "New York hotels"
ofc these KW are really hard to rank for, I just write them down as an example.
        Good luck!

You can also help hotels with their social media (Facebook especially). Create a coverphoto ($99,-) Make sure they are using a fanpage instead of an personal account (again $99,-) etc. etc.

    Good Luck!

Guys can we clarify what we talking about here?

Are you offering SEO services or Lead Gen sites or something else?

EDIT: OK I saw the thread title and the answer is SEO

So is anyone offering other services if so what are they
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[6502357].message }}
  • I wasn't really concerned about keywords. I was more interested in what services you provide them and how receptive they are of SEO.

How do hotel owners/managers feel about SEO?

I think the best thing for you do do is go aks them yourself. and i dont mean that in a rude way. I would go network and socialize with hotel managers in a small city and then go use your new found info to close so big clients in bigger cities. By the way most hotel managers live in the hotel so you will always find them.

You can create the site, rank it for all the keywords you think have high searches and then offer advertising.

To monetize it before closing any deals, you can use affiliate marketing for traveling, discounts, rentals, local fun, nightlife, etc.

    Just another idea.

Yes, hotel can be a very lucrative niche especially if you are doing a local SEO for them.

If you are familiar with paid traffic, you can also charge them for doing their marketing.

Hotel is a very good and popular niche. As far I know, a lot of people are working in this niche. Anyway, it's a good one and if you can set a goos strategy, it can give you a good result. But, keep in mind that competition will be high if you fail to use proper key wording.

If you need to find clients, then do this:
Search for the terms like Hotels in [your city], Hotels in [your country] and mix and match the keywords with using words like Cheap OR Budget OR Best OR Hotels Near Train Station, Hotels near [your city] Airport etc...

Then note down a list of all the people who are on third or fourth page. Approach them with proposal and you will have better chance of getting clients.

      Just my two cents..

As long as you can find the right keywords for a hotel and the correct niche, this may be a very profitable SEO venture for you.

Most niches are great for SEO it's just important people remember that it's not the only form of traffic. Before i start an SEO campaign for a company I always test the keywords with PPC first to find out which ones convert best for the business, then you know which keywords to target.

Hotels and restaurants are very easy fishes because you can easily explain to them that almost everyone searches on google before they book into any hotel.

Try cheap hotels in ______ | double bed hotel in _______ | Best hotel in _____

Any hotels or motels in my area or all chains/franchises which makes it hard to approach because they often comply with decisions for marketing made higher up.

Or rely on marketing done by others higher in the franchise.

Yeh you have to target low competition keyword don't try going for "hotels + city", "hotels in city", "city + hotels"

Mike Carraway (Winebuddy here on WF) stayed at a hotel/condo rentals on the beach basically for free during the Gulf oil spill a couple of years ago. Brilliant marketing indeed as he made simple YouTube videos giving updates on a Florida beach saying "There's no oil spill on this white sandy beach and yes, the hotel is open".

Here's the link (NO Aff. link):
Mike Carraway (winebuddy): his videos on Dailymotion

Although I'm assuming this was at least a partial barter situation you can use these videos and write up a "Case Study" on how these report style videos can drive traffic and get the phone to ring.

    Video=easy traffic
