Got a big meeting tomorrow! all offline SEO people PLEASE HELP!

Hey guys,
so i got this meeting tomorrow with a dude who own a new gambling company and my friend recommend me as a person to do his SEO and bring him traffic

now, i've got experience doing SEO for my sites, but never did this to offline clients
I guess my biggest questions is what you promise to your clients? ( I know lots of companies promises rankings, but can you really guarantee it for 100%?)

and what you do in case of google penalty/update that heart your client site?


anyway would love to hear everything you have to tell me!
also tips about closing the deal would be a bonus

    It seems to me this first meeting should be a fact finder. You do have a fact finding list, right? If not, there are several posts on this forum that give you one.

    Don't promise anything other than you will give him a 110% effort in design, building and marketing his site. Get to know him and his company and then get back to him with what you can do for him.

    Seems like an open and honest way to do business. I also think this makes you look like a professional instead of one of the sleazy sales types crawling around.

    Rule number 1 - don't promise SEO results.

    The only think I say is that their ranking will improve consistently.

    Tell him that nobody can ever promise first spot in a certain time frame and anybody who tries to is trying to take his money, this puts you ahead of 90%of the people who will pitch him as well as get you over the promises part of your post.

    As for algorithm updates, don't mention them, Just deal with them as and when they happen, nobody knows what google will do next so don't pretend to, just keep things as clean as possible for the current algorithm and you won't go too far wrong.

    Closing tip - ask for payment and then shut up, if he talks first he will give you some dollah.

    This guy is sold. Referrals are gold my friend.

    Having said that. I always like to under promise and over deliver. Deliver the relationship.

    What is important to him, how is he currently marketing..etc

    Study his market before you go, so you know how much it will take.

    it's all about them, then make sure to give him a couple different options, with price and ask him which one he wants to do. (make sure to ask for the money, lol)
