Google Places Listing - 4th Week in PENDING STATUS

Whats your experience with this?

"A" spot for over two years now in pending status. Updated new address about 2 weeks prior ( approximate, did not know exactly when listing had been removed )

Only spammy thing may have in categories which were removed, and some keywords in the additional business details.

Fourth week now, how long can this go on?

Thinking of just starting fresh with a new listing ( new name, new address, etc..)

Any suggestions?

I had a similar problem when I made an address change. I had to verify the listing again and wait for the PIN to arrive via postcard. After 3 weeks it still had not arrived, so I contacted Google support and they reinstated the listing. Maybe that will work for you.

Thanks for replying, but I did get postcard and verified and the listing was appearing fine. It was a couple weeks later the listing disappeared.

Same thing for me except I'm just listing a clients Google Places account and it's taking forever to get here. I've lost count must have been around 3-4 weeks, I've seen a lot of these posts about Google taking ages to send out verification PINs.

    Me too.

I got the PIN, entered it, updated the listing and all that and it still says "pending" and "in review" or something similar.

It's been about 7+ weeks I believe....so yea, the wait is pretty long.

    • If it's in pending, then it's usually a guideline violation or the nanny bot got you for a word that's on the bad list. One listing I just saw on the Places forum was a Dr. that went pending because he had the word "butt" in his listing.

BUT if your listing is missing or you are getting the do not support location blank page and you just verified, then it's normal these days for the listing to not show for 5 - 10 days after PIN.

BUT if it was NOT just verified and it's missing it's usually a guideline violation. Lately it's mainly due to the new rule that you must hide address if you have a home based, service area business and only go out to see customers at their location. (Like plumbers, roofers, taxis, etc.)

Google just deleted THOUSANDS of listings for violating that guideline.

Also FYI for most types of problems I recommend the troubleshooter but support is so backed up right now due to all the home businesses they deleted that need help, that they turned off the troubleshooter temporarily til they get caught up.

Well, I was not aware of the must hide address. The business is a contractor-type business. The competition do show their addresses at this time, but we'll see what happens. I just edited and resubmitted with the address now hidden.

The listing is for my own offline business, and the loss of leads is starting to take effect on my families financial health.

I have contemplated starting a new listing from scratch, with a new name and phone, what would you suggest?

Also, the website connected to this listing is not ranking anymore. This website had two pages on the first page which are now gone. Does the disappearance of the places listing cause loss of rank with the associated website or am I dealing with two separate issues?

I updated website to comply with the over-optimized issues, I know this could not have been the case, I just changed spammy page titles and minor things, it has hundreds of relevant backlinks. The website has ranked in the top five spots for a couple years.

        Thanks for your reply.

I think this is all because of the change of Google Places going to Google+ Local. I have seen long delays too and I have been waiting for the merger to finally complete but it is taking forever. Meanwhile customers are stuck with wrong categories, wrong NAP and/or missing pictures/videos. Good times!

Whoa you are SO lucky. I've helped hundreds of businesses with this issue and have never seen that happen. Normally Google or the algo does not know you changed the setting. You have to request re-inclusion and that's even broken right now so most listings have been done for a couple months with no way of getting back up.

No don't start over. Bad move for a WIDE variety of reasons. Besides for awhile support was telling folks to delete and start over and the ones that tried it can still not get back up even with a new listing.

Re the site - No if Place page penalty or other problem usually it will just disconnect which leaves the site to still rank where it did in organic, just disconnected from Place page so no rank in blended. So if site dropped I'd attribute it to organic factors or penalty.

      Yep super buggy right now.

FYI videos are MIA and won't be back til the final update. G says images are delayed up to a month. I personally think image uploads are just broken and they won't be fixing because it's all hands on deck for the techs, to get the new platform done.

You can use MapMaker to try to fix some problems that you can't fix in the dashboard. And you can do a user edit to add images for now.
