Anyone has some tips on cold calling about web design services

Alright so I have send some emails to businesses about my mobile website design services today and gmail has blocked my email account for 24 hours because many emails have bounced back as a lot of businesses have wrong or expired email adresses on their sites.

So I am gonna buy a skype subscrition and I am gonna give a shot at cold calling businesses tommorow.

Do you guys have any tips for me on how to talk with them and what to say and how to begin as to not have everybody close the phone in a "Don't start selling stuff to me" fashion?

Thank You. This is the first time I am doing this.

Regards, Marian

PS: Should I have kind of a script from which I could ask them some questions about how they know or not how their website looks on a mobile?

Congratulations on making that move to pick up the phone! There is a lot of discussion on this topic such as on this Warrior Forum Thread.

A script is very helpful, even if you have it in bullet point form. Practice your tonality in front of a mirror, visualizing you in front of someone. Your physiology will come through on the phone, along with tone.

Consider your goal for the call, it should surely not to sell them over the phone. You will likely be trying to earn the right to their time, to meet with them.

To achieve that goal, how would you like to be approached if you are very busy?

Perhaps something that will make your life easier and not cost you hardly any time.

Ask for 15 minutes of their time and offer a great benefit, such as leaving them with a customized 6-month plan for their business. Here, follow this link and use this as your template plan ... just customize it by inserting their customer needs and specific business objective.

Good luck! Curious on your progress

My advice: don't give it a shot.

    Just don't.

You put your toe in the water for a single day and expect results--one call closes--you'll fail.

    So don't.

Or commit for 14 days, because you'll see results in days 7 - 10.

In the meantime, check out these posts, which have helped many Warriors:

and oh yeah, look at this.

With regards to sending email. It's never a good idea to use an SMTP provider such as Google, Yahoo or MSN as they are quick to take action that will throw a monkey wrench into your efforts. Hosting providers are not a good option either.

A great alternative is Amazon SES. They allow up to 10k emails per day and are pretty cheap, $0.10 per thousand emails. Just make sure you comply with the CAN-SPAM rules, which isn't hard to do for B2B emailing.
