Has Anyone Ranked Their Own Business On Google For Inbound Leads?

I'm exploring the idea of beginning the process of SEO for my own web design firm to rank for keywords such as "Baltimore web design" "Web designers in Baltimore" etc. I'm wondering if anyone else has done this in a metro area and how difficult it was.

    I was number 1 in my local area for Web design for a while, the competition is really tough and it's a full time job staying on top, so I let my rankings slip and pay for Adwords.

    As long as I'm on the first page, I don't care about being too much higher.

    I started by running adwords and now I rank on page one of the keywords I want to be found on. "Internet Marketing Training Center" "Mobile Application Downloads" "Google Places Marketing" are my best 3 ranking pages. I buy a domain and use Weebly...easy peasy...

        I spend about £400-600 a week, on web design and seo keywords, 1 sale from the 200 or so clicks that will buy me and I break even.

        If you can't convert 1 out of 200 clicks, there is something wrong with your sales funnel.
