Hey dreamer, what are you dreaming of?

We're all in the same game here but I'm sure we all have different goals, aspirations, motives, and intentions.

What are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to make a crapload of money and live life on your own terms? Are you trying to gain respect in the business community? Or are you just trying to make some fast cash using your interwebs skills?

Also, answer me this... if a magic genie granted you $100,000 to build your own local marketing firm. How would you spend it? What services would you focus on?

  • My guess is that most people who are in business JUST to make money won't get very far.

I'm in business because I believe I can offer something of value that will make the world a better place than when I found it.

I would take 6 months off to totally relax my mind, put away 20k to start my model, and come back and build a multimillion dollar business from that 20k with full steam and energy. Why? Because its a sure bet for me.

Otherwise I would start a call center.

I already do well enough to live life on my own terms but once I get my grandkids back I will feel better to do even more again.

    Ps.

As it stands I am supporting 3 families, and dont have the money to do everything I want to do, as far as investing ATM, even though, by myself, it would be ample money, what I make now... which is in the 6 figure range currently. Have done better in better times, in better emotional states of being.

Still proud to say I do it myself though! With no silver spoon.

    Greta questions both...

Accomplish? Serve more, work less and continue to make more profits

$100k? Create more marketing solutions/tools/systems for owners of professional service businesses who still struggle with marketing their services.

There's nothing like the empowerment we have to know we can generate money anytime we want. Problem is getting the money we generate to actually come back to us lol. I know how it is, as I support my 4 kids and wife which is not cheap.

Like you, just some breathing room would be priceless. Just a nice period of time where we could focus our thoughts and regroup without the stress of consistently being concerned about others.

I hope you can get your grandson back asap John.

That's pretty cool, I agree with you totally. So many consumers think that small biz owners are these rich people that have "made it" since they own a business. Most of the time it's a family struggling but putting everything they have into their passion. It's rewarding to help them focus on their passion without having to worry about how to generate business.

What he said. Thats the ultimate goal.

I use to manage a call center where the boss daughter was his personal assistant and knew the business as well as him, that was a nice inspiration for me, they worked together daily and were very tight and loyal.

Not sure about the whole "follow your passion" thing. It seems much better to follow customer desire, fulfill it, and then chase your passions elsewhere.

If there happens to be a market for your passion, great. But usually there isn't, and "follow your passion" then becomes a road to perdition.

Fulfill a Want and you'll never want.

With $100,000 seed money I'd take half and immediately create an amazing free access knowledge center for sales methods. This would generate a lot of traffic, and most importantly the right kind of traffic.

I'd take a break for a year with the rest, developing content for the site and relaxing. Don't get to relax much.

After the year of building up traffic, the site would be worth a lot. Some advertising firm would bounce along and offer to buy the thing for a million bucks. I'd sell and retire.

Think it's a dream? Do some research--similar things have already happened.

$100,000 would certainly take the pressure off, and give me the stability and confidence to move forward in a way that I've never experienced before. My biggest struggle has been laying the foundation, maintaining momentum, and having the continued resources to build, grow, and expand. I've been bootstrapping for so long that it seems natural.

It would be great to wake up knowing that I have to ability to move full speed ahead, with financial bedrock beneath me. The only choice to make now is to create this bedrock the bootstrapping way, because I'm starting to sense what it would mean to have this become a reality in my life and business.

Well I know what I did with $62,000....

I bought out an offline business that sells paper receipt rolls to retailers.

Just when I think I got my business brain satisfied,
I get an opportunity to create more sales from a website
that is part of a network which gets 30 million visitors a month.

Now this has really got my juices flowing!

Pretty much have free reign to split test all the changes I want.

Are you crazy, or am I..? lol,
because being in business is my passion.

So called "holidays" take me away from my passion

I go to a monthly Meetup group for internet marketers and you meet all these newbies wanting direction. I very much enjoy helping them. They come back and tell others that I really know my stuff and don't try to sell them anything. Good feelings you get from giving from a place of no agenda.

      Best,
      Ewen

Well I'd like to say the typical things of taking time off and relaxing like everyone else, but I'm really focused right now on getting some platforms built to grow my business.

So, if the magical marketing genie granted me $100,000 I'd use it to get those platforms completed, because right now, I'm currently doing all the designing and coding.

This way I could hire a better and faster coder than myself to cut time and minimize my learning curve.

Of course it wouldn't take the entire 100k, so I would invest the rest in the business and get involved in some real estate properties, and I'd go back to school for a MBA just for fun, because I like education.

Im pretty much in this boat right now.

I own 2 businesses at the moment and am about to sell my share for the first and biggest one. I should get close to 350k for it, in less than a year. And no, I wont invest all this in offline/online marketing, I try to invest as much as possible in real estate already but I figure I could put a 100k or even just 50k to get the marketing part going strong.

The reason why I quit and sell my share is to go fulltime marketing all alone and eventually open an office with an employee or two, or more, working mainly for local businesses, which I already do part time but I just dont have enough time, I could get tons of customers but I now have to refuse everything since the first company takes so much of my time with 20+ employees, 300-350 jobs each year (homebuilder), so much stuff to do, I can't take this anymore. I really need a change after 12 years and I prefer to spend more time with my family (young kid) than making 250-300k in salary each year with no life quality, no traveling, no nothing! I know I can make that much online for less pain, MUCH less pain actually

HOWEVER, I understand money brings opporunities. Its always easier to make money when you already have money so thats a big plus for me. One of the projects I have is buying a profitable authority site. Something that has lots of traffic, a big fat mailing list and a good monthly revenu that will repay by itself after 10-12 months maximum. Before doing any of this, I will have to read ALOT on the subject and learn what to do and what not to do.. I never invest into something I dont fully understand. Ive worked so hard to get where I am right now, I know the value of money, I started from nothing, couldnt even rent movies or go to restaurants but Ive learned alot in those years and I wouldnt change a single thing about it.

So to get back on the subject, in my case, with 100k, I would probably look into buying something that works well already and capitalize on this while working with local businesses, which does'nt need any investment, thats the crazy part with offline marketing, you can get an empire going in a matter of months for very minimal investment. Not sure I would put as mush a 100k to start with but 20-25k could be a good start and a good learning experience before going big at 100k+

I think you never have enough income sources, its all about how much time you want to put into this and where do you see yourself in a couple years. Possibilites are endless.
