For those folks using Adwords to generate leads

I am about to begin an Adwords campaign to generate web design leads in my city. However, I'm a bit concerned about the landing page part of the equation.

My question is: If you've been using Adwords with your main site, what kind of landing page have you been using and what have your results been like?

I'm a bit skeptical about spending $1,000 a month on Adwords and driving all of that traffic to my home page found here:Vantage Mark Media |Baltimore Web Design Firm| Web Designers in Baltimore| Baltimore Web Design Company

Each page needs to be built for the keywords being targeted or groups of keywords.

For example you would make a group of ads that targeted:

    Balitmore web design
    Baltimore website design
    Web Design Baltimore
    ..

    etc

Then make multiple ad copies for those keyword selctions and test which converts the best. The main idea is that you send the users to a page that is suited to the query so that the information they want is within eyeball distance. If they click straight back from the page it will reduce your quality score.

The main focus should be relevancy, quality and testing. Test everything, make sure you're relevant and the quality of your copy is top and you will convert them.

You need a free guide and email collect box on that site to gather leads.

Let me phrase the question better: What type of copy, page layout, call to actions have you been using to convert traffic from Adwords? Is your website's homepage enough or do you go out of your way to create special content?

I see you got the testimonial on the right off of fiverr. That guy does a great preacher impression that I used for a service launch.

Ha, I have a testimonial from him too. Crazy.

For adwords, I always always go out of my way to create a unique landing page for the exact keywords I'm targeting, and with a specific call to action for the person to take.

So, for web design in Baltimore, I'd create:

      http://www.vantagemarkmedia.com/web-...-baltimore-md/

and then do the SEO stuff you'd normally do when trying to rank that by itself. Get your CTA nailed down (calling a number, submitting a form, whatever).

For the adwords part I'd just use "Web Design Baltimore" (or whatever your keywords are) for the headline, since the user's keywords are always highlighted in bold for the SERP, including the ads on the page.

      Yup. Sounds about right.

This will take some time but do this:
Get AdWords certified | Google Certification Program

Once you complete the initial steps, get a phone call from a google rep, and watch some videos, they'll start sending you emails regularly with $100 adwords codes in them. You can set up new gmail accounts and run your ads with those codes pretty regularly.

I generally get 3 codes at a time and just set up new adwords with them as they come in.

It's 1 coupon per account, correct? How many leads have you gotten from this?

Web design is very competitive. Clicks from $7 - $14

I don't use the Home page, I use a dedicated landing page with strong call to action.
