Aceepting payments over the phone in the UK

Does anyone know of an easy merchant solution for someone to accept a payment over the phone from a client?
I am a newbie looking to make a start on offline marketing, however I am stuck because I was rejected my paypal's merchant solution.

I don't think you can find a free one, but authorize.net seems to be popular here. Quite sure you need to apply there too, though. Best of luck!

There are tons of merchant accounts online that accept the option for payments over the phone - all that I know of require an application.

Why was your Paypal merchant application rejected? This may be a problem you face in the future. Maybe Google Checkout has what you need?

You need to find out why PayPal decided not to allow you to input over the phone. I use PayPal for my business and initially i was told i was not allowed either. here's a few tips to gt them to change their mind:

    - PayPal generally won't let brand new start ups be able to do this because its easier for scammers to commit fraud - they simply put in a load of stolen card details and their away.

    - Having a website MAY help, but only if it actually looks authoritive. The guys at PayPal all know how easy it is to knock up a semi decent looking website with a wordpress template...

    - Having sales coming in through another method (paypal button on website, email invoices) is another way of showing them you are legitimate

    - The biggest way you can show them you aren't a scammer is open a business bank account and verify your paypal account with it (this way they know that you are who you say you are) [this is what i did after i got rejected initially and when i reapplied there was no issue]

    - I'm not too sure if its an option, but you may be able to verify your identity by sending them a scan of passport and recent couple of bills. Again, not definite on this one but worth looking into

You basically just need to show paypal that you aren't a scam artist and they'll be happy to let you use them. I personally think they're the easiest to use, but equally i haven't tried authorise.net - not too sure how big it is over here in the UK, but fairly sure you'd be able to use it without issue to input card details.

    Hope This Helps!
