Why do so many newbies fail ?

Hi. I was just doing some research and I have learned that about about 97% of newbies fail at internet marketing. After all you can start this business on a low budget, can work from home, it has unlimited potential and you can work your own hours. Why such a high failure rate?. I would love to get some feedback from you

Many give up on their first obstacle, others on the second, and so on. After which they head back to the internet in search of a new, and hopefully easier, method and repeat this process.

I say this because I've been there and have done that. Things have changed though and I've found my method. Right now I'm at a point however where I can't fail, desperate, so I've just obliterated every obstacle that has come my way. The last one was the idea of cold calling a few months ago, but now because of my situation I have no choice but to do it. And I'm doing it.

There may be more, but I'm merely speaking from experience.

It's important to find your motivation. Once you get that first taste of success you should want more. Unfortunately, failure is just the same way. Once a method doesn't work instead of tweaking it, most just give up.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Without motivation and that "push", and in your case, your desperateness, most people will never make it and will therefore be stuck at their 9 to 5's.

    It's more like 99.9% fail.

And you answered your own question in your question.

Any business you can start with a low budget is not necessarily an easy business to get into. Working from home doesn't always make it easy, you have to separate home life from work and that's hard to do. Unlimited potential is a driving factor but working your own hours is a lie. You don't REALLY work your own hours... you work the hours it takes in order to succeed. 4 hour work week? Kiss that dream goodbye... plan on an 80 hour work week.

People fail because they don't want success enough.

Along with what iamnameless said, I'd chalk it up to inability or refusal to simply jump in and take action instead of sabotaging yourself with information overload by grabbing every WSO or $97 course that catches your eye because you think that next one will finally be the ticket. Doesn't even have to be buying WSO's. Could be as simple as spending too much time reading threads on here and not actually putting the ideas into practice. I'll admit I remember when I was a bit like that in the beginning. One day I literally took a post-it note and put it on my computer that said something along the lines of "Take action! No more information!" to simply remind myself to stop reading and start doing.

Also, I think many newcomers feel like the successful people posting monthly sales figures are somehow offline "gurus" who are just different, and that the success is some unattainable thing, when really most of the people making decent money have the same "amount" of skills as the newcomers themselves. The successful people don't have special DNA or a secret sauce or anything like that - they just took action and figured out what worked along the way.

Most people just don't have the discipline to work for themselves. It takes a very specific personality to be able to wake up every day being self employed and accomplishing the tasks that need to be done to make your business successful.

  • Even though starting and running an actual income generating business online is possible, most folks do not realize that this end result can not become reality by simply handing over $37 for the latest clickbank product promising "financial freedom in a download", or $10 for a WSO offering the latest traffic tactic, or even $997 for the most extensive course on how to make money online. A successful business does not come in a box delivered to your door, nor does it come as an instant download. The problem is that most folks will cringe at the thought of creating their own products and services, and investing into some real tools and services such as a webhost, domain name, building a website, getting an autoresponder, building a team, advertising, and other essentials that are needed in order to run a "real" business. Many however (the 97 to 99 % of those that fail) will spend their cash on shiny hypnotic sales pages that promote a solution which claims to not require any of the above. (simply hand over your cash and you'll be set, even though they wont tell you what it is you are buying, just click the buy now button and you'll find out). Here's the big online success secret revealed at no charge, the sales page that tells you this, is a "website" that runs on a "webhost" hooked up to an "upsell", and an "autoresponder" programmed to follow up with you in order to sell you more stuff, after they sold you their first "product". And the reason you found their sales page in the first place, was probably through one of their active "affiliates". Heck, this system worked for us for close to a decade, (see our signature below) except for that we don't sell promises, just real products that fills a need in our niche. Hope this helps.

I see a reoccuring argument in every person's response -- that being that people hesitate to TAKE ACTION. John Williamson said it right when he emphasized how many continue to devour information yet do nothing with it. If people really just jumped at the opportunity to be successful and actually put their plans into action, the success rate would be MUCH higher!

Oddly enough, it's the same % as those who eagerly buy the next shiny new thing, hoping that it will be the magic Easy button...and then take absolutely NO action on it, and hop on to the next bandwagon.

Pick something and STICK WITH IT, and have a sales plan.

I started my site about 5 months ago and it has justed started to make me an income. Luckily I run a business aside from this so I was able to be a little more patient with it and was in the habit of grafting and putting the work in for myself.

I did nearly give up 3 months into the site though as my expectations were way off. I expected to be making decent money after 3 months and for most I think that is very unrealistic (I realise now it could be months and months maybe even years until I make real good money with my site and I have accepted that now) . The past 2 months I have just continued to build content and build backlinks and all the other stuff to get my site noticed and now that I am not stressing about it I am finally making money from adsense and affiliates that is doubling every month and over 500 visitors a day coming to my site.

Patience is the key and not letting the bad days get you down as it seems to be just after the point of "This is not worth it" that good things start to happen and most people give up just a little too early.

My best peice of advice as a relative newbie would be to keep plugging away. If 3 months after that first I quit creeps into your mind you have not made an improvement maybe you need to reasses.

I think a lot of failures has to do with information overload. They see this guru making XXXXXX so they try his course. Then this guru has a course that gets him XXXXXX dollars so they try that one. The next thing is they have dozens of courses, spent thousands of dollars and now their head is spinning so fast from all the information, it overwhelms them and then they fail to take action. Trust me I know from experience. I was the kid that needed to have the shiny new toy, if it didn't work I would just buy another new toy looking for the one button solution to all my financial problems. One thing I found out from buying all these products, other than it's a bitch to get a refund, is that no matter what system they sold me, it required a lot of work.

Many newbies are sold on the fact that you can create an empire using the internet but are undersold on what it takes to reach the status of the so called "gurus". And I can understand the infatuation with making money online. I have made only peanuts compared to what some of these guys on WF make but once I got my first big commission, I was hooked but I know it can be done.

I think the failure rate would be a lot less if newbies would pick one thing, take action and master it. That's it. Stop jumping from new toy to new toy.

It is depends on personal management of work to win ya fail. If i am newbies then naturally i have don't know about the business campaign and how to grow more with help of our own skill. Inetrnrt marketing is biggest business platform so because lacking of knowledge generally newbies are fail.

People try it out and dont see the results they want overnight. It mainly deals with impatience, and the extent that your willing to try/ go.

Because the nature of failure has been twisted into a bad thing.

I've failed at IMing and other business so many times I've lost count.
      Web hosting
Graphic Design (quit due to burnout)
T-shirt printing (still paying off the equipment)
      Computer repair
      Commercial cleaning
      Web development (another burnout) and
      Various strains of Internet Marketing

Each one left me with tools and lessons that I've been able to build on,
and parlay into a fine little business.

I think that the mindset one must have coming into this business, unlike
most others, is that of recognizing you're going to fail quite a few times
until you find the crux of what you're good at vs. what works monetarily.

Failure is a necessity in IMing for newbies. It's the easiest way to find
where you fit, and where you don't.

Aspiring internet marketers fail because they are addicted to BUYING.

You don't make money buying. You make money SELLING.

Also, what IAmNameless said is true as well. There's not enough risk involved for people to take it seriously.

Because they can't decide what niche to dive into. There's too many available information out there and you can't really do it all. Newbies look for easy money and they don't want to do a lot of work to start with.

They are looking for a simple guide that if they've done it overtime there is already a sure result. That's why they keep on finding an easy to follow information and keep buying things out.

Businesses fail in the real world too and many due to one word..."Focus" Newbes tend to be all over the place trying this new idea and that new system. You have to find something you have a fairly good understanding of and build on it but stay focused. Make a plan and stick to it. Focus on the prize.
