How to send E-mail to a list of business owners?

I have a significant list of business owners that I would like to send an e-mail to. What service/software can I use to import an excel list of e-mails, type an e-mail, and click send?

Thanks

  • According to some, GetResponse is the most cost-effective way to upload an Excel list and send out a blast. AWeber is alleged to be less friendly with this.

You might want to set up your emails with an opt-in (get the receiver to acknowledge your original email and take action by clicking on an opt-in link). Even though business-to-business emails are not covered by SPAM laws, you're better off covering yourself with an opt-in.

Thanks for the nod Vince, but let me just clarify something. We require double opt-in. However, if someone is say, moving a list to us and is convinced the list is a all opt-in confirmed and healthy, we will consider waiving the confirmation (double-optin) if the list meets certain testing requirements. A person can contact us and request that compliance test the list. There's a process to go through which starts with answering some questions. We have to diligent in this regards, but we do our best to make it as painless as possible.

I'm always happy to answer questions about this via PM, Skype or Twitter etc..

      Regards,

        Hey Jim,

I would like to ask you about adding an email list with you guys. I have a business that I just sold where I still have the email list 15k or so. I would like to be able to mail to them with my new company. They all were opted in to my list but they have not opted in to the new company.

It is 100% business list if that matters. We used to sell leads to businesses. My new company offers training to those business...not sure if that matters but I wanted to share regardless.

Sorry for asking the question here. I don't have enough posts to PM you and I wasn't going to spam the board just for that.

        Thanks!

          Hey Huntdog,

I'll drop you a PM with my email so I can follow up for you on this, because based on what you're saying here, it's probably not quite as straightforward as one might assume. Either way, you're going to have to get those subscribers to opt-in to your new campaign, if you know what I mean...be it reconfirmation or welcome email.

          Regards,
          jim

Hey Vince, just curious because I'd love it to be true, but could you tell me where you've read that b2b emails arent covered by spam laws? Everything I've read on the subject like CAN-SPAM Act: A Compliance Guide for Business | BCP Business Center indicates that it doesn't matter whether b2c or b2b
The law makes no exception for business-to-business email.
      Cheers,

      Steve

Here's the exception: The CAN-SPAM Act says that if you and the person you are emailing have a prior business relationship, and you are sending emails that assist in continuing that relationship, then you can email them without them having fill out an opt-in request. You can include commercial content (where you are trying to sell them something) but the primary message must be transactional (information that continues the business relationship).

I tried both of those, no avail. Get Response requires a double opt in, the last one I can not locate.

  • So, GR requires a double opt-in? Take it and run with it! Their deliverability is superior and you get genuinely qualified list members.

Don't take my word for it. Test it yourself.

    Sincerely,

Thanks but I'm not really looking for list members. I just want to run an e-mail campaign to a list of e-mails.

I am interested in this too. I have a large list of business owners I want to email but I don't know what sort of company would allow me to do this without an opt in. Any other suggestions?

I use Interspire, it does exactly what you need and works out really cheap if you are a heavy user. If you just need a few blasts then pm me we could do it off our server.

    Kind regards

Hi John, i have been studying your Offline lead generation WSO from a couple of months back-is there not a way you can upload bulk email addresses to Thunderbird, using your own Hosted email mechanism? Great WSO by the way, really helpful to me.

Thanks for the kind words, you can use Thunderbird but it has limitations, you tend to get problems sending more than 200 at a time and there is no tracking or stats of any kind.

    Kind regards
