Should I transfer my site from intuit that I established in 2005 to WP

I think I will get tons more exposure! I have not optimized the site at all, other than 3 articles, a press release and forum posts, at the time these things were not done with optimization in mind just to get the word out in my niche. Anyway I havent touched the site since 2009 however I am still getting emails to join my service and I havent even touched the surface of on page optimization. According to traffic travis it has accumulated 755 backlinks.

So I am thinking moving it to WP is going to really help me to take it to another level!

Welcome any comments & suggestions

It depends if you are going to open the project again to increase what you currently have. I would say it's easier to market a WP site and change different things. just 301 all the old URLs to the new ones

That's a very broad statement, are you saying no matter what you search in Google that there is a Wordpress website at the top? I think not.

I agree that WP is great. I only deal in WP now. The main thing is making sure you have it setup correctly. Doing the 301 redirects is a necessity to make sure you don't lose any current rankings. I use all in one webmaster to integrate all of the webmaster tools from bing, yahoo, and google. Platinum SEO for all of the on page SEO tagging. Then, a good opt in to capture leads.

Also, wp db-backup is great for keeping the database optimized and doing automated backups. If you want a full list of plugins let me know. I've got a standard list I use for every site.

That was exactly my concern. I do not want to lose the 755 backlinks I have accumulated. I also use Platinum SEO for on page. So, I can do this 301 direct myself... correct? or should I have my host do it. I have to read up on it more. Also I believe I am going with the Thesis theme...my current site has a real nice professional appeal and I want to keep that look and it looks as if Thesis is very flexible

Ok so name something better than wordpress.

In the meantime, I'll reiterate wordpress. It rocks. First site I ever made in WP I was able to rank on page 1 of google. So now I use wordpress all the time.

Rank on page 1, but was you position 1?

Was position 1 a Wordpress site?

I look forward to your reply

If you have no had success in the other major platforms, you aren't qualified to give a real breakdown.

Wordpress is best for people who want something, simple and basic. As far as development goes, most see wordpress as being used by amateurs, whereas Joomla, Drupal, Magento are being user by professionals.

Wordpress designers and developers tend to get paid 30-40% less.

Wordpress is easier to hack and exploit than the other major CMS platforms.

Even after all that being said, wordpress is 100X better than Intuit.. intuit sucks.

We have over 600 Joomla websites currently ranking in the top 10 of google for the main keyword. We have 130ish wordpress sites ranking top 10 (we stopped doing WP over a year ago).. 300ish Drupal sites, and 40 magento sites. Google does not give preference based on whether you use WP, Drupal, Joomla, or html/css based sites. Google wants good content, a fast website that provides a good user experience and you can do that with any CMS.

Out of these platforms, wordpress is definitely easiest, but that doesn't mean it is better.
I hear you loud & clear & truth is I spoke a bit out of context.

In my head what I was really asking is "name something better than wordpress for an intuit user?".

Since there are more far more tutorials for wordpress, less features, & the OP doesn't seem that experienced... wordpress still seems like the better choice to me. Although I'm sure thats just me being bias. One of these days I will have to take a look at what all the rich folks are using.

No its in position 7, but do you want me to rank position 1 just to show you that wordpress is capable? Or are you indirectly suggesting that WP is not capable?

Either way, I look forward to YOUR reply.

ps. I may have sounded a bit sarcastic here but I am genuinely curious what you have to say about WP. One thing I noticed is I continued to do SEO after reaching the #7 position but it does not want to go any higher. So maybe there is some type of issue with ranking WP. I merely attributed this to my lack of experience in SEO but are you trying to say WP is bad for SEO?

I've heard many opinions on this from both sides of the fence so naturally I still sit in the middle on this one.
