Easy Money from Dentists...

Tell me what you think about this idea to get dentists, especially pediatric dentists, to write you a nice big check for easy work.

I own a parental control software program that sells for $47 (ChildBarrier.com). I want to help a local pediatric dentist get tons of free publicity by allowing the dentist to give away $100,000 in parental software to local parents.

All I have to do is tell the local newspapers, radio stations, and TV stations that a local pediatric dentist is giving away $100K in parental control software to protect local kids from bad content on the Internet. The dentist is sure to get a lot of publicity from the give away. They shouldn't have a problem writing a $500 - $1,000 check for the opportunity.

My cost is nothing but my time to contact the local media. The media can simply direct everyone to the dentist's website to download the software, or I can supply the dentist with $100,000 in gift certificates and people can stop by the office to pick one up.

What do you think about this idea???

Maybe one day I'll have time to try this...

Brandon

it does not matter what you or I thinks

whats matters is what the market thinks

and you will never know unless you put it out there.

ideas are a dime a dozen

its the implementation is what's worth alot.

Agreed. I still want to know what people think about the idea. I'll go for it when I get the time.

You can ask for "theory" or you can go out there, put your ideas in motion and gain your own "practical" experience.

I'd say go ahead and give it a blast.

Looks like a promotion that has potential although I would want to get a lot more than $1000 for this if its a stand alone promotion.

Hmmm...so you've going to give away 100k in software for only 1k?

Looks like you're selling yourself sort there, unless of course you've got some other ideas like backend products to sell to those who may download your software for free.

I chose such a large dollar value because it will help get the publicity. But I don't loose any money. The money to develop the software has already been paid a long time ago. And I doubt that many parents will go download the software. But we'll see.

Why are yiu focusing on dentists?

Wouldn't a school be a better way to give the software away?

Yeah do it as a fundraiser the school sell the software at a discount and keep half.

Even if you sell it for $20 you should make more then $1000 per school and you are still keeping the value of the software. Plus who turns down kids who go door to door. Many of the peiople who buy the voucher will never actually even download it. You just have to create the vouchers and the back end coding to control using vouchers for downloading. Or you could load it onto a CD and mass produce them.

I would do vouchers first myself since printing them should be cheaper for you.

Hmmmm... that makes sense. I will think about that. Thanks for the suggestion.

I chose pediatric dentists because they work with kids. So it fits. And they would probably love this kind of local publicity. Childcare centers work with kids too, but they don't have the capacity for a large number of new customers, unless its a very large center.

If schools gave away the software, how would I make money from that? A school is not going to pay me for publicity.

    Brandon,

I visited the site and it sounds like it could work...for 1 professional in a local area. I'm thinking you should charge a bit more than $1k, though.

I might try this in my area as well, depending on how it works for you. Please let me know!

Definitely selling yourself short. I think you should market yourself more before doing so.
If you need to drop 100k to get $1000 then somethins isnt right! Perhaps you should try and market yourself more locally instead of someone else?

      I think you're a little confused. I'm not spending $100K. Re-read the initial post.

Your idea is a good idea but needs the practical test as others have said in reply. Give it a try and let us know what happens. BTW, selling it through schools as a fundraiser is a great idea because it is DIFFERENT from all the other crap they are asked to sell. I'd try it in schools first.

BTW, if you don't want to try it in schools, give me the rights to market it and we'll see what happens. I'm willing to give it a go.
