Does anyone use a service for direct mail?

I am trying to find the most time efficient, cost effecient way to send mass direct mail.

What's the most practical way to get it done?

This is for website design.

I have an account with sendoutcards that a friend 'persuaded' me to use, but I haven't looked into it in depth yet.

Anyone have a great service for it they can share?

There are a couple ways to go about it.

    1) Find a printer online and organize the mailing list, postcard design, and send out date, or
    2) Find a local printer and do all the same.

Personally, unless you have a close personal friend or trusted colleague handling your DM a thousand miles away, the safest route is to do the printing locally so you can oversee the process.

In the States, we have to pay sales tax on postcards not ordered virtually, but when ordered locally we can see and touch the postcards, see a live proof, and, if we so choose, we can take the completed batch of postcards and drop them off at the Post Office.

You can also request the printer to package your print job up and ship it to you, so you can do the physical transfer of the mail to the Post Office yourself.

Bottom line, the last thing you want to do spend time and money on a direct mail piece, only to have it never get delivered or get screwed up by some Postal person.

'Efficient' sounds to me like easiest and cheapest, leaving out effective.

If you are sending postcards to businesses, you're screwed. I know
of someone who sent out 10,000 and got 0 response.

I would first go after a specific target, say a carpet cleaner. I would
get a list of names and send a enclosed mailer (letter).

It will take more effort on your part, but can be very effective...
which means you make money instead of throw it out the window.

There are ways to cut corners:

-There are companies out there that handwrite envelopes and stuff them for you.
-You can create a font that looks like your own handwriting.
-Well placed use of variable data can give it the unique effect.
