1st PPC client, need help...

Hey Warriors, I hope you're well.

I have an old client, my 1st in fact, who has asked me to run a 'promotion' for them. They are a small family plumbing company with NO CLUE about the Interwebs.

They want to run a promotion offering £10 off their boiler servicing service as it is gas safe week next week here in the UK.

My initial thought was to set-up a new page on their website & promote it with PPC, social media etc. Then I thought about doing a post promotion on FB.

The thing is I don't want to overprice myself out of work & at the same time my kids need beer what would you do/ charge?

I have done all sorts of promotion and PPC is the best I've seen for that sort of thing. (Fast promotions) Do you know what type of budget they have? I would do ppc targeted to their local area. I would setup a squeeze page to gather leads. Then, I would charge them a certain amount of the budget. If you can tell me the budget I can give you a recommendation.

Hey mate, thanks for your reply.

As of now I'm unsure of their budget, would 30% be about right to charge though?

I'm starting to think this may not be worth my while

If I ask them their budget & they say 'oh... about £100' then #1 I aint doing all this work for £30 & #2 they won't get much in the way of ROI...

That might work out for your fee. However you are right. If they only are going to run a really low budget they need to rethink doing business period. To get business they are going to have to spend.

Set up a minimum fee that you're willing to do the work for. If the budget is a decent size, you can always just charge the percentage. Obviously, the lower the budget, the higher the percentage.... Higher the budget, the lower the percentage!

Clicks may be kindof pricey for that stuff, so Id certainly make sure they have a sizable budget and that you have a proper landing page. Those situations are always tough because if it doesnt go well, they'll look directly at you!

Couple of things to think about here.

    1. Running last min specials limits your options. Why are they just now contacting you about a special for next week? Personally I would turn them down and tell them next time you need 30 days notice to do something like this. I do in house work myself and even with that I tell people no when they don't give me enough time.

    2. Is 10 off really going to drive business? Honestly stop and think about this. They may try to blame your campaign but that offer is boring. I would bend over to pick up a 10 spot. But I wouldn't run after it if the wind was blowing. Think about it that way. Yes if I am already planning to get boiler servicing and with that company I might schedule now for 10. But I wouldn't randomly decide to get service for 10 off. How much does this service normally cost? Anything less than 25% off and they won't get anyone's attention. Be honest with them so they know what they need to do.

    3. Honestly this seems best as a bounce back special. Something to send to their current lists to get customers back. That is where I would target this if that was the offer they gave me.
